‘The family is the place where parents become their children’s first teachers in the faith.’ Pope Francis
CATHOLIC LIFE OF THE SCHOOL
Our week has been spiritually enriched by our Welcome Mass celebrated by Fr. Kevin for our new children and parents. Father reminded us that being kind and loving towards each other was the most important part of what we learn as we grow up. And, as St Ignatius of Antioch reminded us: ‘Faith and love are everything, and nothing is more precious than these.’
Father Kevin and Father Ben have also led our decades of the Rosary this week with classes and parents who were able to join us. These have been very moving.
We look forward to celebrating the Feast of St. Edward’s next Friday at the Church of Our Lady, St. John’s Wood at 11:00 am and all parents are warmly invited. (Details to follow).
The homework club this week was very well attended and many thanks to those parents who collected their children at 4:30 pm. Children need to have their own pen and pencil and also a snack. At the moment we have a waiting list so please give your child’s name to the school office.
This week’s attendance was slightly down and we would like to remind all parents that unless your child is really ill, they should attend school as absence leaves gaps in learning which can be hard to make up. Please ensure that we have been informed of any medical conditions your child may have or have developed since they started school with us. We are on the gate every morning so please do not hesitate to speak to us if needed.
We are happy to be working in partnership with you as you read at home with your children. If you have any spare books that you are thinking of throwing out, please consider donating them to the school for our reading corners.
It would be very helpful if all items of clothing and uniform were clearly labeled with your child’s name as especially young children are not always retrieving their own clothes to take home, and thus a sea of identical clothes is hard to sort out.
Next week we look forward to the Life Bus arriving on Monday. Each individual class has been time tabled a PHSE session. Thank you to those parents who have purchased the book and we look forward to seeing you at the parent session.
Another exciting event will be Class 3’s assembly on Thursday at 9:00 am and Year 3 parents are cordially invited to join us.
We will be sending out letters for Parents Evening which will be happening on Tuesday 15th October and Wednesday 16th October. Please follow the instructions in the letter to book an appointment. If there are any issues, please see the school office.
Finally, a big thank you to you all for your support of our Macmillan Coffee Day organised by Mrs Taylor. With your generosity we have raised £240 which has been sent off to Macmillan.
Wishing you a happy and holy weekend.
Mr Tissot and Ms Thomas

Dear Lord Jesus, help us to be like St. Therese. Please increase our faith and move us to action - sharing God’s love with the world in little ways. Amen.
Our whole school attendance for this week is 96.5%. Well done to class 5G on achieving 99.6% attendance this week - keep it up!
The school gates open at 8:40 am and children need to be in class by 9:00 am. Attendance and punctuality are crucial, as continuous absence and lateness will result in your child missing important teacher instructions and learning.
RE CORNER - Class 5C
This week we started a new topic: Life choices. We discussed the meaning of friendship, its importance and what it takes to maintain it. After reflecting on the words responsibility, fidelity and commitment, we discussed the life of Jesus and his disciples and what we can learn from it.
CONGRATULATIONS TO CHILDREN WHO RECEIVED CERTIFICATES AT THIS MORNING’S ACHIEVEMENT ASSEMBLY. CERTIFICATES ARE AWARDED FOR CONSISTENT GOOD WORK AND HARD EFFORT.
