It has been a very busy week and it has been lovely to meet so many parents at the year group meetings. We look forward to meeting with more parents in the forthcoming week. We are pleased to be sharing books with all our parents so that pupils read and practice their times tables at home. We are delighted to be taking our classes to Church Street Library starting in October and would encourage all parents to add a trip to their local library to their already busy family lives. The library is also offering help with maths (please see details below), but to join the maths club, your child will need to be registered with a library and have a library card.
We are undertaking a homework review to ensure that homework is accessible for all children. We will be running a homework club on Mondays from 3:30 - 4:30 pm for children in years one to six. The club will start on Monday 23rd September. If you would like to register your child, please give your child’s name to a member of staff at the school gate on Monday morning. If your child attends, please ensure that they are collected promptly at 4:30 pm.
We were delighted to welcome Mr Gregory, Head of St. George’s, to our year six ‘up the ante’ evening and would like to remind parents that the St. George’s prospectus and application form will be available from the school office as from Wednesday. We will urge parents to attend the St. George’s open morning/evening on the 1st October. We were also delighted to welcome Mr Morgan, Head of English at St. George’s, and Mr Martin, Deputy CEO of the Cardinal Hume Trust, who will be joining us at certain times to teach year six and some very lucky year five children.
We are also very pleased to welcome back Sr. Bernadette to St. Edward’s and she will be working with us on our Monday assemblies. In the near future we will be inviting parents to our welcome Mass - more details to follow. We’re also very pleased to announce that during the month of October (Month of Mary) each individual class will be saying the rosary on Friday afternoon at the end of school, to which we cordially invite parents. Again, more details to follow.
A gentle reminder to all parents that when you collect your child, please ensure that they stay with you and that you make your way out of the playground as the gates will be shutting at 3:40 pm. If you wish to speak to a teacher, please make an appointment with a member of staff at the gate in the morning.
Thank you very much for sending in PE kit with your child, but please let us know if there is any issue as it is now the third week of term and we would expect all children to have the full PE kit (swimming kit for year 4). As the cold weather approaches next week, we need to please ensure all children have appropriate outdoor wear. Please label all clothing clearly with your child’s name - many thanks to parents who have already done so.
Finally, the generosity of you all is humbling and it is lovely to see parents bringing in party bags to share with your child’s classmates. As you are aware, allergies are on the rise and so we would ask that you check with the class teacher and hand the gift bags to the individual children’s parents at the end of the school day so that everyone’s wellbeing is ensured. A gentle reminder, please do not include nut products.
We hope everyone has a peaceful and happy weekend.
Mr Tissot and Ms Thomas

Dear Lord Jesus, help us to use our gifts well - to be your trustworthy sons and daughters who always put you first in our lives. Amen.
Our whole school attendance for this week is 96.6%. A big well done to class 4Y on achieving 100% attendance this week - keep it up!
The school gates open at 8:40 am and children need to be in class by 9:00 am. Attendance and punctuality are crucial, as continuous absence and lateness will result in your child missing important teacher instructions and learning.
RE CORNER - Class 4T
We have been looking at the importance of family in RE. We have learned that we are all a part of God's family and we need to show love and respect to everyone. We have also learned about Abraham and how he became the Father of a Great Nation. He is at the top of Jesus' family tree.
