HEADTEACHER’S MESSAGE

Dear Parents, Carers and Children,

We will celebrate Pentecost Sunday this week. We are encouraged to grow in courage, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, kindness and faithfulness by being open to and receiving the many priceless gifts which the Holy Spirit brings. By helping others at home, at school or in our wider community we will keep the Holy Spirit alive today and always.

A warm welcome back as we face the final stretch of this academic year. The next few weeks are jam packed with events as we celebrate our achievements and hard work and prepare to say farewell to those leaving us at the end of the year. Please make a note of important dates that can be found below. There has been a change to the date of Summer Party which will now take place on Thursday the 11th July. Thank you to parents who have already volunteered to help out, but a few extra hands on deck is always appreciated. So, if you are willing to help, please come along to our Coffee Morning next Wednesday (12th June) to help Mrs Moon get the organisation started.

Thank you to all the parents and carers who attended yesterday to meet with our future additions to the Senior Leadership team Mr Tissot, Ms Thomas and Mr Smith - I am confident that St. Edward’s will benefit enormously from their leadership and expertise and I know that they are very much looking forward to working with staff and families.

Have a lovely weekend!

Best wishes,

Miss Clare O’Connor

NOTICES AND REMINDERS

Class 9 visit Abbey Road Studios!

The children in class 9 had the fantastic privilege of visiting the world famous Abbey Road Studios! They were taken on a private tour, played on a piano that has been used by many well known musicians, viewd the gallery of the many famous musicians that have performed and recorded at the studios and they even got to listen to tracks that have been recorded there. Of course , a visit to Abbey Road would not be complete without mentioning the Beatles and looking into their history attached to Abbey Road. Class 9 had a brilliant time and are eagerly looking forward to representatives from Abbey Road visiting them at St. Edward’s in a few week’s time.

RE CORNER

This week in class 2 we began our new RE topic ‘Friends’.  We have been thinking about what it means to be a good friend.  We know that friends look after each other.  Friends make us happy, comfortable and glad.

We have also been thinking about the things that spoil friendships and how we can make friends again. When that happens, we need to say sorry and make up as friends as soon as we can.

Jesus had lots of friends. His closest friends were called his disciples. Jesus was a special friend to all the children. Jesus gave us all an important rule – that we should love each other.  Loving each other is a sign that we are friends of Jesus.
