Dear Parents, Carers and Children,
On Sunday, as we listen to the Gospel we will be reminded that Jesus came to establish God’s kingdom so that we all can share in God’s healing love and peace. When we welcome Jesus into our lives and try to live as he taught us, God’s kingdom grows within our hearts.
On Monday 8th July children will have the opportunity to spend part of the day with their new class teachers in their new classes. I know staff and children alike are eager to get to know each other ahead of the new academic year.
Other events happening next week are:
Year 6 End of Year Production on Wednesday 10th at 2:00pm - Parents and families of our year 6 pupils are very warmly invited to come along and watch their production of Rock Bottom. The children and year 6 staff team have been rehearsing and preparing really hard and we are looking forward to seeing their performance!
Summer Party on Thursday 11th - the whole school will enjoy an afternoon of fun, games and sporting activities. This is a highlight on the St. Edward’s calendar and a celebration for the children to thank them for their hard work and good effort through the year. A very big thank to all parents who have volunteered to help out on the day - your help is invaluable and we could not have the party without you!
Year 6 Leavers’ Disco on Thursday 11th from 4:30 - 6:30pm - our year 6 children will enjoy an evening of dancing.
Lastly, but not least, there has been an increase in the number of lost property items. Next week from Monday to Wednesday these items will be in the KS2 playground after school for parents to claim.
Have a lovely weekend.
Miss Clare O’Connor

NOTICES AND REMINDERS
First Holy Communion Mass
We celebrated a beautiful First Holy Communion Mass on Monday and I wish to thank Fr. Lorenzo for sharing this special event with us. The children looked wonderful in their outfits and the Mass was a fitting reminder of the importance of this holy and joyful sacrament. To Ava, Maisie, Tristan, Reese, Elisa, Miley, Fiona, Lola, Segen, Skye, Gracie, Carmel, Maria and Mekhi - may God’s blessings follow you now and throughout your lives.
Reception Graduation Day
It was wonderful to have so many proud parents share in this special occasion - to see their children reach another milestone in their schooling career. Class 2 have now officially ‘graduated’ and are ready for Year 1! Well done!
Year 5 visit St. George’s for a Taster Day
Year 5 had an excellent taster day at St George's School yesterday. They had a tour of the school given by pupils from the sixth form and took part in various lessons including French, Drama, Music and Geography. The children were very impressed with the school and were excited about the prospect of one day being in Secondary school. Well done to Class 11 and Class 12 for their good behaviour and manners during the visit - and for working so hard during the lessons!
Class 12 go to Chelsea Physic Garden
Class 12 had a memorable time at the Chelsea Physic Garden on Monday, learning about different plants. We went on a nature hunt and we even had the chance to make our own habitat for our dinosaurs!
Year 6 visit York House
On Thursday 4th July, Year 6 had a wonderful opportunity to visit York House for the Young Readers Program. At York House, Year 6 were separated and put into groups to do a range of different and fun activities- listening to exciting poems being read to us, creating our own bookmark and even got to choose our own book to keep! At the end, my group got creative by using straws, sticks and blue tack to create a structure of our own design. My favourite part of the trip was getting my own free book to take home to keep! I had the best day! Selena (Class 13)
This week Art Club made their very own elephant and tiger hand puppets! They look great!

Children may wear beach clothes for the day (no swimwear or flip flops please), and come prepared for an afternoon outside i.e wearing sunscreen, sun hats and bring an extra bottle of water.
Dessert Day - Wednesday 17th July
Children are invited to join us on the 17th July for a special summer menu of delicious wraps and ice cream! Cost is £1.90 payable via ParentPay.
First Holy Communion at Our Lady of the Rosary Church
If you have a child in year 3 or above and you would like to have him/her prepared for the Sacraments of Reconciliation & First Holy Communion at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, forms are now available from the Repository on Sundays between 08.30 & 12.30.
This term in Class 9 we are studying God's people. It is really interesting because we learn about people who were just ordinary, but as they followed God footsteps they became Holy.
We are understanding that every single of us is important in a different way and all of us can go around the world, in our houses and school and spread the Good News. We did a lesson about Saints and we researched about St Francis of Assis, St Edward, St George and Saint Lourdes. Their life stories are very fascinating, as we learnt all about the miracles they performed on Earth.
