HEADTEACHER’S MESSAGE

Dear Parents, Carers and Children,

This Sunday we will celebrate the feast of Corpus Christi and we will hear in the Gospel of the miracle where Jesus fed five thousand people with just five loaves and two fish. As Jesus fed those people then, he still feeds and nourishes us today when we receive Holy Communion. Listening to the Word of God keeps our faith strong and nourished.

This week has been a very active week with both KS2 and EYFS enjoying their sports days . I was so pleased to see how our children gave their all in the events and I was very impressed with the level of athleticism displayed. Please see below for some brilliant photos of the KS2 sports day courtesy of Wu Photographers - thank you. EYFS photographs will be in next week’s newsletter.

KS1 will be taking part in their sports day on Tuesday - children to please wear PE kit and trainers. Events start at 9:30 and families are warmly invited to cheer children on. I look forward to seeing you there.

Our school council have been working with Mrs Moon and Mr Abbas on selecting new playground equipment for our children to enjoy during break times. They got to try out the new games today, we have had fun bowling, playing sticky catch and juggling among other activities and the feedback from all year groups is really positive!

A reminder to parents who have children joining our Reception and Nursery classes in September that the induction meeting will be taking place on Wednesday 26th June at 2:00pm. You will be given further starting information as well as a date for a 1:1 meeting with your child’s future class teacher. Representatives from our uniform supplier, Ace Clothing, will also be available to enable you to view uniform/sizes and order if you so wish.

We will be experiencing some very hot weather next week. Please remember to apply sunscreen, wear a sun hat and bring a bottle of water to school.

Have a lovely weekend!

Best wishes,

Miss Clare O’Connor

NOTICES AND REMINDERS

Class 3’s Assembly

Class 3 has had a lot of fun practicing and finally getting to perform our assembly for an audience this week! The comments we received were very positive and we couldn't be more proud of their efforts. Maybe we'll see some of them on the West End in the future. We used our best voices to relay a very important message to as many people as we can. That message is - the planet is for everyone to share and we need to keep it healthy and beautiful. I know that in class 3 we have learned a lot about what we can do to help the planet. Even though you are still children we all still have a role to play. All that Mother Earth is asking is that we all our mindful of keeping the planet healthy and we try to do our part. Even the smallest actions add up and make a difference. Let's make sure the planet is a beautiful place for us and for future generations.

KS2 Sports Day

Thank you to all parents and families who joined us at Regent’s Park for sports day. Here are some fabulous pictures from the day - enjoy!

First Holy Communion

Congratulations to Isabella on celebrating her First Holy Communion. May God’s blessings and love follow her all through her life.

Fr Lorenzo will be celebrating a special First Holy Communion Mass to mark the commitment made by St. Edward’s children who have celebrated their First Holy Communion this year. Families are invited to join us on Monday 1st July at 2:00pm in the top hall. If your child has made their Communion this year, please let the school office know as we would like to include them in this special occasion.

Art Club

This week the children have been making rainsticks in Art Club - they look and sound fantastic!

Yoga Day

Today is International Yoga Day and St. Edward’s children have marked the occasion by taking part in some playground yoga, all under Miss Caridade’s expert coaching - St. Edward’s very own qualified yoga instructor!

RE CORNER

This week in R.E, class 14 have been learning about 'Common Good'. We have been focusing on the importance of equality and equity especially through the concept of fair trade. We investigated the process it takes for us to enjoy a banana and how this process can often be unfair and unjust. It has been our mission to think of ways that we can help correct the unjust things we encounter in our day to day lives in our communities and the wider world.

SPORT

3BM Football Tournament

Here is a round up of how our teams performed at the 3BM Football Tournament. We are so very proud of their achievements and the determination and sportsmanship displayed.

Year 3 and 4 reached quarter finals with the help from Atheer and his amazing goalkeeping.

Year 5 and 6 had a fantastic tournament winning every game and only conceding three time. Well done to Tyler who scored a magnificent 51 goals.

Our girls’ football team were invited to compete in a women’s world cup run by QPR and we are so proud that they were crowned champions!

A very big thank you to Mr Abbas for making this great opportunity happen and for the parent volunteers who helped on the day.

Table Tennis

Luna and Jonabel qualified and competed in the PG Mutual U10-U13 National Championships last weekend in Wolverhampton. The competition was really tough and they did their best. What a great achievement! We are so proud of them both.
