Dear Parents, Carers and Children,

In this Sunday’s Gospel we will read about the Good Samaritan. In this parable, Jesus teaches us that our neighbour is any person who needs our help, regardless of who they are or where they come from. This is a message that is relevant to us in our lives today - we can change the world through loving and serving our neighbours.

This week has been a very busy one at St. Edward’s - we celebrated our Summer Party, our year six students partied at their Leavers’ Disco, we enjoyed a fantastic end of year production by our year 6 children, class 3 went on an exciting trip to the ‘Chicken Shed’ in Hyde Park, classes 7 and 8 visited Westminster Cathedral and class 11 made the most of the brilliant weather by enjoying a picnic and art in Hyde Park.

I wish to say a very special thank you to Miss Holly Freiter and Waitrose for their generous donation of ice lollies that the children enjoyed at the summer party yesterday - they were delicious! A thank you from the whole school to all the parents who helped out at the party.

Please enjoy the photos of the various events below - the lovely pictures are courtesy of Wu Photography.

Next week we prepare to say farewell and good luck to our Year Six children with a special Leavers’ Mass and Assembly - Year 6 parents are warmly invited to join us for both these events.

End of year class parties are taking place on Thursday 18th July.  Children are allowed to bring one snack for themselves and one non fizzy soft drink for themselves to have during the afternoon.

Our year 5 parents will be starting to think about Secondary Transfer as the deadline for these applications is 31st October 2019. Below is information regarding open events at Maria Fidelis and Westminster Academy. I urge parents to please start researching by visiting individual secondary school websites for detailed information on their application processes.

A reminder that end of year reports will be sent out on Monday.

Have a lovely weekend.

Best wishes,

Miss Clare O’Connor

Class 11 visit Hyde Park

Class 11 had a wonderful trip to Hyde Park on Wednesday. It was a lovely way to end the year. The children did some sketches of the Albert Memorial and then had a picnic and played games together. The weather was lovely and the day was such fun. A huge thank you to the adults who came with Class 11 and who were so helpful.

Westminster Faith Exchange Art and Poetry Competition

A huge congratulations to Lama who submitted a poem for the Westminster Faith Exchange Art and Poetry competition. This was a competition open to all children and young people in Westminster. The theme was 'Looking after our planet.'

She has been invited to accept a prize and read out her poem next Wednesday at the Lord Mayor's Parlour, Westminster City Hall.

We look forward to hearing the poem in September. Well done Lama and to all the other children who took part in the competition.

Mathletics Wizard!

Talia (class 10) reached first place out of the top 100 students worldwide in Mathletics on Wednesday. What a brilliant achievement!

In Class 13, we are preparing for our Year 6 leavers assembly with Class 14. As our time at St Edward's is shortly coming to an end, we are taking time to reflect on our religious journey throughout primary school. We have reflected on our achievements, successes, highs and lows and the spiritual life lessons that we have learnt along the way. As we look towards the future, we may be nervous about secondary school and the future ahead, but we know that God has big plans for each and everyone of us and He will be with us every step of the way.

Sports Day Achievers

Children and staff who displayed excellent athletisism at Sports Day were duly awarded with medals at Thursday’s assembly - well done! We are looking at our sports champions of the future!

Last weekend Luna took part in the Middlesex Closed Tournament at Greenhouse and was runner up in the under 11’s. What a great achievement Luna!

Well done to all children who received certificates at this morning’s achievement assembly. They are being recognised for their excellent work, good behaviour and hard effort.

More are our house champions once again this week with 413 points! Well done!
