Dear Parents, Carers and Children,
Welcome to our new and improved website - I hope you find it easier to navigate around and more informative. We will keep adding and updating information so please visit our website regularly.
On Wednesday we saw the return of our Year 6 children who had a brilliant and exciting time at Sayers Croft. They were able to take part in team building activities that helped build and strengthen communication and leadership skills. They have also nurtured friendships and made memories together as a cohort that will stay with them far beyond their time at St. Edward’s. Year 6 will share their experiences at Sayers Croft with their parents at their class assembly on the 4th October - I look forward to hearing all about what they got up to!
Next Friday our PTA will be hosting a Macmillan Coffee Afternoon for parents at 2:45 pm in the lower hall. Every cake baked and every coffee sold will make a difference as all money raised will go to Macmillan Cancer Support. I do hope you will be able to join us in support of this worthy cause either by joining us for a bit of cake and a hot drink or by donating baked goods (fresh cakes on the day please). Children will join us at 3:30 pm for a cake sale.
This morning we held an anti-bullying workshop assembly focusing on developing healthy relationships based on respect, tolerance and understanding. Children also learnt about the different types of bullying, how it can affect someone and practical advice on how to get help. Our school policy on anti-bullying can be accessed here. Our achievement assembly will be held on Monday.
A reminder that children are permitted to wear stud earrings only to school. Due to health and reasons, hoop earrings are not acceptable at any time.
I am very impressed with our whole school attendance this week - a fantastic 97.4%! Class 1 achieved 100% for the second week, class 4 achieved 98.9% and class 14 achieved 99.3%. It would be wonderful if we could keep this up. The number of children arriving late to school decreased this week which means a lot less learning time lost. Thank you and well done.
Have a lovely weekend.
Miss Clare O’Connor

NOTICES AND REMINDERS
Class 12’s Assembly
Class 12 were proud to perform the first assembly of the school year and they wanted to talk to the rest of the pupils about always trying your best, working as a team and being determined to succeed. Class 12 delivered an important message that all the school can follow. They even performed a song that they wrote with Mr Twigden playing the guitar.
Well done, class 12, you delivered a fantastic assembly!
This week the Year 6 children went to Sayers Croft, an activity centre in Kent. They took part in lots of different activities including caving, pond dipping, archery and high ropes. Some of the children were scared being so high up in the air but they faced their fear and completed all the obstacles. During the evening they watched a movie, had some hot chocolate with marshmallows and on the final night, they put on their dancing shoes and had lots of fun at the disco!
Year 6 would like to say a big thank you to Mr Clough, Miss Gaebler, Mr Twigden and Miss Ziane for giving up their time and coming to Sayers Croft. Thank you!
Today we were visited by Open View Education who delivered age appropriated anti-bullying workshops to all year groups. The focus of this workshop is to equip students with the skills to deal with bullying situations and to support others who may be experiencing bullying.
Our after school clubs are all up and running and it is great to see so many of our children participating - enjoying themselves and developing skills. In art club the children have been decorating their own cardboard pencil boxes using stamps, glitter gel pens and colourful beads.
Macmillan Coffee Afternoon
Come and join us for a hot drink and some cake on Friday the 28th September at 2:45pm in the lower hall. All proceeds will be going to Macmillan Cancer Support. They offer invaluable support to those battling cancer and every bit of help makes a big difference. The coffee afternoon will be followed at 3:30pm by a cake sale for children. I look forward to seeing you there.
Year 6 Fitness Challenge
Last week Mr Abbas put the year 6 children through their paces with a specially worked out fitness challenge. They put their athletic skills to the test and displayed some impressive exercise techniques.
