Dear Parents, Carers and Children,

The date for our Summer Fair has now been set - Saturday 30th June 2018.  Our PTA Summer Fair Raffle tickets have been sent home today, there are some fantastic prizes up for grabs including a European Trip for two and a £100 John Lewis Voucher.  Please try and sell as many as you can to family, friends and neighbours.  The prizes will be drawn at our Summer Fair on Saturday the 30th June at 3:30pm.  Tickets are £1.50 each for £7.50 per booklet.  More booklets are available from the school office.  Monies and stubs must be returned to the school by 8th June.  Thank you for your support!

Preparation for our Summer Fair is in full swing and we will be holding own clothes days to collect items for our tombola, class hampers and cups stall.  We will be sending home further details soon.

Our  PTA will be meeting on the 14th June at 9:00am and the focus will be on Summer Fair planning.  All help is needed and greatly appreciated so please join us!

Please note that our Sports Days will be held the week we return from half term break.   Mrs Moon encouraged all children at this morning's assembly to play less video games and be more active to get fit and ready for sports day and this half term is a perfect opportunity to do so.  As always, parents are warmly invited to our sports days to cheer their children on!  Children must please wear the correct PE kit, trainers, sun hats, sunscreen and bring extra water/drinks (no glass bottles).  KS2 children will need to take a packed lunch to Regents Park.

  • Wednesday 6th June - KS2 Sports Day at Regents Park Running Track 10am - 3pm
  • Thursday 7th June - KS1 Sports Day 9:30am at school
  • Friday 8th June - EYFS Sports Day 9:30am at school

There is still time to sign up for the free WAES 'Out and About' workshop - please contact the school office.  This series of workshops will be focusing on making the most of outdoor learning and play spaces in London and will run for five sessions starting the 15th June.  The programme will offer plenty of ideas for budget friendly outdoor activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Well done to our Year 2 children who have completed their KS1 assessments this week! You were fanatastic and a big Thank you to our Year 2 team of teachers and teaching assistants for all of your hard work and effort in preparing the children.

I hope you have a safe and restful half term break!  I look forward to seeing you on Monday the 4th June.

Class 10's Assembly

On Thursday Class 10 had our assembly.  We based our assembly on the work we have been doing in Literacy and R.E. We have been looking at the Anansi stories and their morals on being a good friend. We decided to pick our favorite story about how Anansi got all the stories of the world.  It was really fun because the story was interesting and we all got a line to read. We have been working on our public speaking, and we have enjoyed practicing our assembly this week.  By Tyanna

Chelsea Flower Show

Manha and Joshua were very fortunate to visit the RHS Chelsea Flower Show this week as guests of Lord's where they took part in a photo shoot in the beautiful 'India: a billion dreams' garden.  They managed to see all the impressive displays and even mingled with celebrities!

Year 5 Bikeability Training

Our year 5 children had the fantastic opportunity to take part in Bikeability Training to help them aquire the practical skills to cycle safely and with confidence on the road.  Thank you to Cycle Confident, Westminster's cycle training provider, for visiting St. Edward's and helping our children develop their cycling skills.  The boys received certificates on completion of the course. Thank you also to Mr Abbas for arranging the training.

The Floating Classroom

On class 12’s trip to the Floating classroom, we discovered the many exciting wonders and activities that awaited us on Regent’s canal. We saw and did lots of amazing things on a canal boat from Paddington Central all the way till Camden, where we got to open and close water locks, which was a fantastic way to see canal life in the past. We also visited an old canal museum, where we got to explore all the stuff that people used for boats, and we got to paint roses and castles with plastic plates. After all this, I can conclude that class 12’s Floating Classroom trip was an incredible idea and way to learn about the canal boatsof the past.  By Noor HP

Girls Cricket

Our Year 5 & 6 girls cricket team went to Regents Park on Wednesday to participate in the Westminster tournament semi finals.  They had a great time putting all their cricket and sports skills to the test!

Greenhouse Centre

Our Class 12 girls visited the Geenhouse Centre on Thursday where they met the inspirational and heroic Kushal Limbu, an Invictus athlete.  The girls then had the opportunity to participate in and be coached in various sporting activities.  A very big thank you to the Greenhouse Centre for inviting St. Edward's.

Art Club

Our Art Club children managed to finish their pencil boxes that they have been working on.  They painted them in bright colours and decorated them with letters and shapes.  What a lovely keepsake to take home!  Thank you to Miss Barton and Ms Barton for running the Art Club and making it such fun with their great creative ideas!  Letters have been sent home for next half term's club so please register and pay via ParentPay as soon as possible as places are limited.

Crawley Caterpillars in Foundation Stage!

To gain a real insight into the life cycle of a butterfly we were very lucky to have received live caterpillars… in our own classroom! We were eagerly waiting to watch the incredible transformation of a crawly caterpillar into a beautiful butterfly!

When we received our caterpillars they were so small.  In one week they grew into long spiky caterpillars.

Where have our caterpillars gone?

We were super excited yesterday! We watched a beautiful butterfly come out of its chrysalis.

We can't wait to release our butterflies into our garden!
