Dear Parents, Carers and Children,

It has been a busy last week of term - classes 5 and 4 visited Hyde Park on a bug hunting expedition, our year 6 cricket squad filmed a promotional video for the upcoming cricket world cup with ex England captain Freddie Flintoff. In addition year 4 to 6 took part in a Flamenco dancing workshops.

Thank you to all the parents who attended their children's assemblies this week. The Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday Liturgies were wonderfully presented by the children and they conveyed the message of Easter beautifully - reminding us of God's everlasting love for us. A big Thank you to the Teachers and Teaching Assistants who helped to make the prayer services very meaningful.

We have asked Marie Hennessey to deliver a coffee morning for parents which will include support for parents with children with Asthma and allergies. Parents are invited to attend either session or both on Wednesday April 18th - depending on their needs.  Marie has great experience and recently led training for all of our staff on both of these. Session 1 Managing Asthma will be at 9:00 (In the top hall) and Session 2 Managing anaphylaxis from 9:30-10:00. We think you will find this very beneficial. We look forward to seeing you there!

The first PTA meeting of the new term will be on Wednesday 2nd May, we look forward to seeing you there.

The Elms will be running an Easter Camp at St. Edward's during the Easter holidays - it is not too late to book so please contact them directly to arrange a place for your child.  Leaflets have been sent home with children and you will find details below.

I hope all our families have a restful and safe holiday and I look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday the 17th April when school reopens.  Please make sure that children are in the playground by 8:55am.  Children to return to school in winter uniform please as the weather is still changeable.

Best wishes and a very happy Easter,

Miss C O'Connor

Class 4 and 5 visit Hyde Park

On Tuesday, Class 4 and Class 5 went on a Science trip to the Education Centre at Hyde Park.  We were engaged in different activities where we expanded our knowledge and skills of invertebrate animals and the importance that they have as food sources to other animals. We studied different habitats and discussed which ones we may see in the park and then constructed food chains to which they belong. We explored the Woodlands and the Wetlands and hunted for animals that live in these habitats. There were a lot of laughs of enjoyment and shrills of excitement from all. A special thanks to all the adults who came along and helped out.

Our cricket team meet Freddie Flintoff!

The Cricket World Cup will be happening next year and our Year 6 cricket squad were fortunate to meet Freddie Flintoff (ex England cricket captain) to film some promotional material for the event.  They visited Lord's Cricket Ground for the day and had a brilliant time!

Year 1 and 2 Bikeability training

Riding a bicycling is a great skill to master and our year 1 and 2 children wre given the opportunity to have some special Bikeability training on special balance bikes!  Thank you to Mr Abbas for organising the event.
