Dear Parents, Carers and Children,
Our Macmillan coffee afternoon and cake sale was a great success and enjoyed by everyone who came along to support the charity. We raised a fantastic £531.75 for Macmillan! This money will go towards the important work that Macmillan do in offering support to those with cancer. Thank you once again for your support and generosity.
At St. Edward’s, the safety of all the pupils, staff and parent/carers is at the heart of everything we do. As a school we regularly practice our fire drill and the pupils are excellent at leaving the school quickly, quietly and calmly. On our last practice, we completed the fire drill in an impressive time! This demonstrates that our evacuation procedures work well and ensure that everyone in school stays safe. In Monday’s whole school assembly this week, I provided the pupils with information and demonstrations of our ‘invacuation’ procedures. The children were introduced to our school ‘lockdown’ procedures and they will have chances to practice in their classes, before taking part in a whole school lockdown. Lockdown procedures are practiced nationally amongst schools and are put into practice when there is:
There is local air pollution due to a nearby fire/chemical release.
There is a dangerous animal (usually a dog) in the grounds.
There is an incident or civil disturbance in the area that might affect the school.
There is an intruder on the site.
Please ask your child about these safety procedures and why not practice them at home? In the rare event of a real lockdown parents will always be notified immediately via text message.
Year 6 parents who are applying to Marylebone Boys must please see below for important information regarding banding test dates and access to the registration form.
Next week we look forward to a visit from the Coram Life Bus - always a highlight in our school calendar! Children will meet Sarah and Harold the giraffe who will give them valuable information on keeping themselves healthy and safe.
Have a lovely weekend.
Miss Clare O’Connor

Year 6 Assembly - Sayers Croft
Class 13 and 14 presented their assembly on Sayers Croft on Thursday. We had the opportunity to talk about all the exciting things we did in Sayers Croft. We wrote and directed our assembly all by our selves. Maysa and I spoke about caving and discussed some of our favorite bits! We had such a great time and wish we could have gone for longer! We look forward to all the exciting things that await us in the upcoming year. By Maysa and Mun

Class 9 have been learning about evaporation…
In Class 9 children are learning about the different states of matter in Science. This week's challenge was to find out the best way to dry clothes. After a thorough investigation, class 9 discovered that heat plays a really important role on water evaporation. So now you know: to get your clothes dried really quickly, ensure you put them next to a source of heat and wind.

Westminster Cross Country
On Thursday a group of KS2 students represented St. Edward’s at the Westminster Cross Country Championship at Regent’s Park. The runners displayed wonderful sportsmanship and represented St. Edward’s brilliantly - all trying their best! Our athletes performed very well considering that it was the first time some of them had taken part in a competition. Thank you to Mr Abbas for coaching them and for the parents who went along to cheer our team on.
