Dear Parents, Carers and Children,
It was wonderful to see all of the parents at our Parent evenings this week, class teachers enjoyed meeting with you to discuss your children’s progress. Parents who were unable to make the evenings, please contact the school office or speak with your child’s teacher to arrange a meeting. Children have settled in well this school year and I am very pleased with the standard of work they are producing. The ‘soft start’ to our mornings is leading to a more productive start to the day and we are seeing the benefits of this in the classroom.
The full report from our recent Ofsted inspection has now been published. I am pleased to say that we remain a ‘Good’ school and I would encourage you to read the report which is available here.
This Sunday is Remembrance Sunday when we all spare a thought and say a prayer for those who have made sacrifices in times of war. Thank you to everyone who has donated towards our poppy appeal. The money raised will go to the Royal British Legion. On Monday our school will observe a 2 minute silence.
I look forward to seeing you at our cake sale next Thursday 15th November. Weather permitting, we will be in the KS2 playground under the awning from 3:30 - 4:30 pm. Donations of baked goods are greatly appreciated please. Thank you to our PTA and to all our families for your ongoing support.
Friday the 16th November is Children in Need Day and St. Edward’s has always enjoyed supporting this very worthy cause. This year we will be dressing up in colourful clothes for the day and I ask that children please bring in a £1 donation. I look forward to seeing all the bright outfits!
Our PTA have organised an exciting Christmas event for St. Edward’s children - a ‘Beauty & the Beast’ pantomime. The performance will be in the top hall on the 18th December and is the Christmas event to raise money for our school to improve the technology department. Please read the letter that has been sent home and hand the reply slip and payment to the school office by the 30th November.
This half term is always a particularly busy one as we start the countdown to Christmas so please make a note of some important upcoming dates that can be found below. Please note the change in time of the KS1 Christmas production.
Last, but not least, we bid farewell to Miss Poulantza who is leaving St. Edward’s to pursue other ventures. I wish to thank her for her hard work and commitment and wish her the best of luck for the future. We welcome Miss Dolan to St. Edward’s - she will be joining us in Class 7 on Monday and has already been introduced to the children.
Have a lovely weekend.
Miss Clare O’Connor

NOTICES AND REMINDERS
Class 7’s Assembly
The whole school and parents enjoyed a brilliant assembly presented by Class 7. They took us on a journey around the world telling us all about what they have been learning in Topic - Mountains and Rivers. They had such fun sharing their knowledge dressed as explorers and adventurers. Everyone joined in singing at the end of the assembly - well done, class 7!
Class 13 visit Pizza Express
On Tuesday, Class 13 went to Pizza Express. Once there, they learnt about the 7 ingredients used to make the pizza dough (including the secret ingredient) and created their own Margarita pizza.
When they got back to school they used the pizza to help learn about fractions, ratio and angles. It was a fun and delicious maths lesson!
