Dear Parents, Carers and Children,
Welcome back to the second half of the autumn term - I trust you had a restful and safe half term break. With the winter weather settling in, I ask that all children please come to school dressed for the cold - full winter uniform (including blue coat with school logo), tie, hat, scarves and gloves. Please ensure that all items of clothing are clearly labelled with your child’s name. Visit Ace Clothing to purchase uniform and have it delivered free of charge to the school on Tuesdays.
Yesterday was All Saints’ Day and we joined St. Joseph’s for Mass at Our Lady’s to honour those who have passed on to the Kingdom of Heaven. I was very impressed with how respectfully the children participated and their beautiful singing - well done! Thank you to Fr. Jeff for celebrating Mass with us.
Parent/Teacher evenings are taking place next week. Thank you to all parents who have already booked a slot to meet with their child’s class teacher. If you have not done so yet, there is still time to book your appointment online at Parents Evening System using the details sent home before half term. If you need assistance or have misplaced your booking code please contact the school office.
At the Parent/Teacher evenings on Wednesday and Thursday, parents are invited to sample school meals and meet staff from Principals Caterers - please do come along to the lower hall to try some of the delicious food that is freshly prepared in our school kitchen.
The Immunisation Team will be visiting St. Edward’s on the 23rd November to offer the Nasal Flu Immunisation to all children in Reception, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5. Letters and information have been sent home so please complete the consent form and return to the school office by the 21st November. More information about the nasal flu vaccination can be found here.
The 11th November is Remembrance Day and as in previous years our year 6 children will be selling poppies in the playground after school - all monies raised will go to the Royal British Legion who provides lifelong support for the Armed Forces community.
Thursday 15th November - our PTA will be holding a cake sale for the whole school from 3:30 pm-4:30 pm. Please come along and support our school community. Donations of baked goods greatly appreciated or just come along on the day to enjoy! All welcome.
Some of you may have noticed the new scooter and bike racks that have been installed under the awning next to class 4. The school managed to purchase the much needed racks after receiving a donation from Waitrose. A very big thank you to one of our parents, Miss Freiter who kindly nominated St. Edward’s for the award. The racks will provide easy and secure storage for all our children who travel to and from school on their bikes and scooters. Please use these instead of placing items behind the railings next to class 3.
St. Edward’s enjoys close links with the Greenhouse Centre, Bell Street and many of our children attend table tennis sessions there. They are offering a free homework club - please see below for details.
A very big well done and congratulations to class 8 who have been awarded a special trophy for their fantastic attendance - 100% three weeks in a row! They will also be enjoying a treat from Mr. Clough. Class 8 have set a wonderful challenge for the rest of our school to take up!
And lastly, congratulations to all children in More house as you are the half term house cup champions! House points are awarded to children for many reasons - good work, politeness, kindness and helpfulness. It is wonderful that our children take pride in displaying these admirable qualities!
Have a lovely weekend.
Miss Clare O’Connor

NOTICES AND REMINDERS
Class 8’s Assembly
Class 8 presented a fantastic assembly all about the ‘Amazing Body’! The assembly reflected on different muscles and bones in our body and how to eat healthily and stay fit! Everyone enjoyed the informative and energetic assembly, but the best bit was definitely class 8’s brilliant singing!
Year 6 visit Pizza Express
On Wednesday class 14 went to Pizza Express where we learnt how to make pizza. We spoke about the importance of a balanced diet and healthy eating! In Maths we used our pizzas to make fractions, equivalent fractions and developed our understanding of ratios! We had lots of fun!

St. Edward’s enjoy the Daily Mile!
The Daily Mile is a social, non-competitive activity that all children can take part in. At St. Edward’s classes take it in turns to run (or walk) for 15 minutes, with most children averaging a mile, or more. Afterwards children return to class ready to learn. It helps to improve fitness and encourages children to be aware of their health.
Bike and Scooter Storage
Our new bike and scooter storage can be found next to class 4. Please use these racks to park your bike or scooter!
ST. EDWARD’S PTA
All parents are automatically part of the St. Edward’s PTA and there are many opportunities for everyone to get involved.
Did you know that whenever you buy anything online you could be raising a free donation for St. Edward’s Catholic Primary School PTA? There are over 3,100 shops and sites on board ready to make a donation when you shop with them, including Amazon, John Lewis and Sainsbury's and it doesn't cost you a penny extra!
To get started, all you have to do is:
Head to easyfundraising, search for St Edwards RC Primary School PTA - London and sign up for free.
Every time you shop online, go to easyfundraising first, pick the retailer you want and start shopping.
After you've checked out, that retailer will make a donation to us and it won't cost you a penny extra!
Please help us by giving more than a gift - there are no catches or hidden charges and St Edwards CATHOLIC Primary School PTA will be really grateful for your donations.
Our ever popular ‘World on a Plate’ event will be happening in the Spring Term so please keep a look out for further information closer to the time.
Thank you to all our families for their continued support.
Well done Noor on being awarded with a gold Mathletics certificate!
Well done to More on not only winning the house cup this week but for being our house champions last half term!
