Dear Parents, Carers and Children,
A warm welcome back to all our families - I trust that you had a lovely Christmas break and wish you all a very happy and blessed New Year. On behalf of all our staff I would like to thank you all once again for your generous gifts and well wishes at Christmas.
Last Sunday we celebrated the Feast of the Epiphany where we remembered how the three wise men from the East were guided by the star to the baby Jesus. May we too be guided by God’s love this new year at St. Edward’s.

The eAdmissions website is open for you to complete your online application. You will need to submit your application by Tuesday next week (15 January 2019). You can find more information here. If your child was born between 1 September 2015 and 31 August 2016, they will be eligible to start Nursery in September 2019. Please collect a form from the school office or visit our admissions page to download a form and read our school admission policy.
Our school PTA are a hard working group of parents who selflessly give up their time to create opportunities for our children which support and enrich their learning. Every parent of St. Edward’s automatically becomes a member of our PTA. We have decided to appoint parent class representatives and so I am asking parents to volunteer - this will provide us with a wider network and more structured PTA organisation. If you feel that you have the time and are willing to represent your child’s class community, then please let either myself or Mrs Moon know. Our school PTA currently also has a vacancy for a Secretary. Further details of role responsibilities will be distributed soon, so if you feel that you have the skills and time to offer, please let Mrs Bernice Hope (class 3 and 4 parent) know. Our PTA will soon start arranging our school’s Multicultural Day celebrations - ‘World on a Plate’ - so please keep a look out for meeting dates and information on how you can get involved.
After school clubs letters for this half term were sent home this week detailing how to register your child for the different clubs. These are on a first come first serve basis and children will not be able to join a club after the first session.
All children must come to school dressed in full winter uniform. The weather is turning even colder and so gloves, scarves and hats are needed. A reminder that the official school coat is a compulsory item of uniform and other coats/colours are not permitted. All uniform is available to buy from Ace Clothing and please make sure that every item is clearly labelled. Wearing the correct uniform and looking smart shows a sense of pride in our St. Edward’s community - I appreciate your support with this.
Please make a note of some important upcoming dates that can be found below - this half term will be a busy one with class assemblies, trips and parents evenings planned.
Have a lovely weekend.
Miss Clare O’Connor

NOTICES AND REMINDERS
Year 3 enjoy a visit to the Natural History Museum!
On Thursday 10th January Class 7 and 8 went to the Natural History Museum in search for real-life fossils. It was a successful day as children were able to participate in a fossil hunt and uncover different dinosaur fossils using real paleontology equipment. We also had time to explore the museum and find other fossils and interesting specimens inside the museum. The children were very well behaved both in the museum and walking to and from school. Thank you to parents who gave up their time to accompany the children on their trip.
OUR RE CORNER
In year 1 we have started the spring term learning about special people in our local church community. We will be looking at how celebrations in the church are community occasions where our parish family gathers together. It is a time to remember why we celebrate and to say thank you when we gather together.
ST. EDWARD’S PTA
All parents are automatically part of the St. Edward’s PTA and there are many opportunities for everyone to get involved . Our ever popular ‘World on a Plate’ event will be happening on Friday 1st March so please keep a look out for further information closer to the time.
Did you know that whenever you buy anything online you could be raising a free donation for St. Edward’s Catholic Primary School PTA? There are over 3,100 shops and sites on board ready to make a donation when you shop with them, including Amazon, John Lewis and Sainsbury's and it doesn't cost you a penny extra!
To get started, all you have to do is:
Head to easyfundraising, search for St Edwards RC Primary School PTA - London and sign up for free.
Every time you shop online, go to easyfundraising first, pick the retailer you want and start shopping.
After you've checked out, that retailer will make a donation to us and it won't cost you a penny extra!
Please help us by giving more than a gift - there are no catches or hidden charges and St Edwards Catholic Primary School PTA will be really grateful for your donations.
Thank you to all our families for their continued support.
