Dear Children, Parents, Staff and Governors,

We have now reached the end of our first term and what a fantastic term it has been! Thank you so much much for all of the kind gifts you have given to myself, Mrs Moon and all staff, they are very much appreciated.

So much has been accomplished because everyone in the community of St. Edward’s has worked hard: our children are working to the best of their ability; our teaching staff are planning wonderful and exciting lessons that children can enjoy; our support staff do so much to make the day to day running of our school go smoothly; our parents support us daily and have given us wonderful events such as the Christmas Pantomime; our governing body have given up so much time to ensure that we deliver a first class education to all of our children.

So now as we await the great feast of Christmas, we take time to reflect on the birth of Christ, through the wonderful Nativity plays that the EYFS and KS1 children have performed for us and through the carols and scripture readings that our KS2 children so beautifully sang and read to us.

It is now time to say our final goodbye to our wonderful teaching assistants that are leaving us. Mrs Jones, Mrs Boggis, Miss O’Sullivan and Mrs Reeves. Thank you so much for your hard work and dedication, over 100 years of service to our children. We look forward to when you come back and visit us very soon!

I look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday 8th January 2019 at 8:40am.

I hope you all enjoy a peaceful Christmas and a very happy New Year,

With every good wish,

Miss O’Connor

Dear Lord Jesus, please help us to see all visitors to our home this Christmas as special people who are loved by you. Amen.

Our whole school attendance for this week is 93%. Well done to class 2 and class 14 on winning the attendance trophies this week!

A sad farewell…

I wish to take this opportunity to once again wish Mrs Reeves, Mrs Jones, Mrs Boggis and Miss O’Sullivan all the very best for the future. The ladies enjoyed an afternoon tea together reminiscing about their time at St. Edward’s. We will always be grateful to them for their many years of loving and dedicated service and they will always be a part of our school family. I hope that they will come to visit us regularly and we look forward to seeing them in the future.

A big thank you…

A very big thank you to Ray from Tesco Metro Paddington and Golam and Christine from Tesco Express, Lisson Grove for their generous donation of Christmas crackers - they made our school Christmas lunch that little bit more special!

KS2 Carol Service

Our KS2 children presented a beautiful carol service at Our Lady’s, Lisson Grove on Monday 17th December. The hymns and readings captured the true essence of Christmas and the service was enjoyed by the many families and friends who attended. A big thank you to Fr. Jeff for celebrating with the whole St. Edward’s community at this very special time of year.

Our Old Nursery

As of 1st January we will be renting our old Nursery to Little Elves Montessori who were previously at Seymour Leisure Centre. They will be completely separate from our school with their own entrance on Hayes Place.

In RE we have learned about what the candles represent on an Advent wreath. The candle of hope is purple, it is lit on the first Sunday of Advent. The second candle is for love, it is lit on the second Sunday. The third candle is for joy, it is lit on the third Sunday. The fourth candle is for peace, it is lit on the fourth Sunday. The fifth and last candle represents Jesus and it is lit on Christmas day. By Ava, class 7

On the 14th December Mr Abbas took our boys football team to the EFL Kids Cup Tournament hosted by QPR. The day was chilly and we started our first game at 10:15. The tournament was fantastic and we amazingly made it to the final . Unfortunately, after everyone’s hard work, we drew in the finals and lost after it went to penalties. We were awarded with medals and were proud of ourselves for making the finals. But most importantly we have great fun! Thank you to Mr Abbas for coaching us so well.

Well done to all children who received certificates at this morning’s achievement assembly! Keep up the good work!

Amelia is the proud recipient of not only a silver Mathletics certificate but a gold one too! Brilliant work Amelia!

This week’s house cup winners are More with 433 points. Southwell were not far behind with 428. Well done!
