HEADTEACHER’S MESSAGE

Dear Parents, Carers and Children,

Today we took part in ‘Children in Need ’ and it’s great to see our school support this worthy charity by dressing in our most colourful clothes - thank you. All donations will go towards BBC Children in Need who perform invaluable work helping children in the UK.

A big thank you also to everyone who supported our cake sale yesterday - either by donating cakes or buying cake to enjoy! Our PTA work very hard to organise these events that not only bring our community together, but raise much needed funds for our school. I will let you know in next week’s newsletter the amount made and as always, monies raised will directly benefit the children of St. Edward’s.

Good attendance enables good learning, helps children to develop friendships and builds confidence. I am very happy with the improvement in attendance that we have made this year so far - keep it up!

Reading is one of the most fundamental skills a child needs to learn to succeed in life and every child at St. Edward’s has a Reading Record book and is given a book to take home and read every day. Please spend some time reading with your child every evening and write a comment and sign their record book. Developing a love of reading is a lifelong gift!

We are looking forward to a production of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ on the 18th December. Our PTA have organised the pantomime as this year’s Christmas event to raise money for our school to improve the technology department. This is an exciting opportunity for children to experience a professionally performed pantomime which I am sure will be very entertaining. Due to fire regulations, we are only able to accommodate children at the event so this may be an ideal opportunity for parents to finish off some last minute Christmas shopping instead. Please read the letter that has been sent home last week and hand the reply slip and ticket payment to the school office by the 30th November.

The School Immunisation Team will be at St. Edward’s on Friday 23rd November to administer the Nasal Flu Vaccine to children in Reception through to Year 5. Parents have until Wednesday the 21st November to return their consent forms.

A gentle reminder of our sickness absence guidelines – if your child is absent suffering from vomiting and/or diarrhea, they must not return to school until at least 48 hours after their last episode. This 48 hour rule is issued by the “Public Health Agency – Guidance on infection control in schools” to help prevent the spread of infections. There are no exceptions to this rule. Thank you for your co operation.

Dinner Money payments – Reception, Year 1 and 2 children are entitled to a free school meal and so no payment is due. For children in Nursery and years 3, 4, 5 and 6, dinner money is payable (£9.50 per week/ £1.90 per day) via ParentPay. Please check your ParentPay account regularly to keep up to date with payments. If your child is changing from packed lunch to school meals or vice versa, the school office needs to be informed in advance.

We have been updating our medical records for this academic year - this has to be done annually. Mr Abbas has sent letters home with those children for whom we require further medical details. Please complete with the necessary information and return to the school office as soon as possible. Thank you.

Thank you for your continued support. Have a lovely weekend.

Best wishes,

Miss Clare O’Connor

All parents are automatically part of the St. Edward’s PTA and there are many opportunities for everyone to get involved .

Letters have gone home about our ‘Beauty & the Beast’ pantomime which is happening on Tuesday the 18th December for St. Edward’s children. This is a ticketed event so please return the reply slip along with the payment to the school office by the 30th November. The proceeds will be used to improve our school’s technology department.

Our ‘World on a Plate’ event will be happening in the Spring Term so please keep a look out for further information closer to the time.

Did you know that whenever you buy anything online you could be raising a free donation for St. Edward’s Catholic Primary School PTA? There are over 3,100 shops and sites on board ready to make a donation when you shop with them, including Amazon, John Lewis and Sainsbury's and it doesn't cost you a penny extra!

To get started, all you have to do is:

  1. Join.
Head to easyfundraising, search for St Edwards RC Primary School PTA - London and sign up for free.

  2. Shop.
Every time you shop online, go to easyfundraising first, pick the retailer you want and start shopping.

  3. Raise.
After you've checked out, that retailer will make a donation to us and it won't cost you a penny extra!

Please help us by giving more than a gift - there are no catches or hidden charges and St Edwards CATHOLIC Primary School PTA  will be really grateful for your donations.

Thank you to all our families for their continued support.
