Dear Parents, Carers and Children,
We have started the new year off with a busy start and I am proud to see how well our children have settled back into the school routine with an enthusiastic approach to their learning.
Reading is the key to all learning. It is really important that parents help their children to consolidate their learning in class by ensuring that they are not only being read to, but that children are also reading their school book every night - Nursery through to Year 6. Your child's reading journal needs to be signed and a comment recorded every evening so that staff know that he/she is working at home with you. The BBC website has some very useful hints and tips on how to encourage a love of reading and on how to support your child with primary school literacy and maths homework.
There are numerous outings and trips coming up this half term to enrich our children's learning beyond the classroom so please take a look at the list of dates below. Also, our parent/teacher meetings will be taking place on the 20th and 21st of February. Details on how to book appointments online with your child/ren's teacher will be given out closer to the time.
A final reminder that the deadline for Reception applications for September 2018 admission is on Monday 15th January (For children born between 1st September 2013 to 31st August 2014). Please ensure that you have completed the online application form which can be found here https://www.eadmissions.org.uk/eAdmissions/app . The deadline for Nursery applications (For children born between 1st September 2014 to 31st August 2015) is the 9th February.
I hope you have a lovely weekend!
Thank you for your continued support.
Miss C O'Connor

NOTICES AND REMINDERS
Year 6's assembly on Sayers Croft
Yesterday Year 6 combined forces to perform an assembly on their trip to Sayer's Croft. They wrote and directed the entire performance themselves, with pleasing results! The audience learnt all about their activities, the fun they had and how to put on a duvet cover!
Well done to all of Year 6 for a very impressive and entertaining assembly!
Year 6 Westminster Junior Citizen Scheme
Today Year 6 paid a visit to the Transport Museum. They participated in several different Citizenship Activities which has equipped them with the skills and knowledge to help them one step further on their journey to becoming independent and responsible young people. I know the information they learnt will come in useful and will help build their confidence for when they start secondary school.
On Thursday all children from year 1 to year 6 enjoyed an active and exciting day of dodgeball! Classes took it in turns to visit the gym hall and everyone had great fun learning the rules of playing the game safely and showing off their great dodgeball skills! A big thank you to Miss Bradley for organising the activity.
Campion are our house cup winners this week! Well done!
