Friday 6th October - Issue 42

Dear Parents, Carers and Children,

I would like to to thank you all once again for your generous response to our MacMillan Coffee Morning last Friday - we collected £358 which will go towards helping those living with cancer and the important services that MacMillan provide.

The 13th October is the Feast of St. Edward - our school's patron saint.  We will be marking the day with a special Mass for our children. They will also be researching the life of Edward the Confessor and creating art to display around our school.

Parents' Evenings will take place on Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th October (for FS1 parents it will be Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th October).  I hope that all parents will be able to attend as this is an opportunity to discuss with the class teacher how your child has settled in and progressed so far this academic year.  Letters have gone home today providing you with a login code and detailed instructions on how to book your time slot on line.   If you need assistance please contact the school office.

Thank you for your patience while we implement our new school online payment system.  There are still a number of parents who have not yet activated their ParentPay accounts -please do so soon to assist us in going cashless.

I am pleased to see that many of our Year 6 children have been visiting different secondary schools to help them make informed choices for Year 7.  Online applications for Secondary Transfer need to be submitted by October 31st.  Any Year 6 parents still needing assistance or advice must please arrange to see me by contacting the school office.

On Wednesday 11th October we will be holding the first of our open mornings at 9:30am.  If you are applying for a Nursery or Reception place for September 2018 please come along to meet with staff and see our school in action.

Our Year 6 children will be going ontheir residential trip to Sayers Croft at the end of November.  This is an invaluable and exciting learning experience that also promises to be great fun!   Please make final payments by Wednesday the 18th October.

Have a lovely weekend!

Best wishes,

Miss Clare O’Connor

Dear Lord Jesus,  thank you for priests, missionaries and all your messengers who help us to know you.  Help us to share in your mission, to be your messengers so that others will come to know the joy of loving you.  Amen.

Well done to class 5 (96.3%) and class 9 (99.7%) on winning the attendance cups this week!

Class 12's Assembly

Students in Class 12 have been learning about peacemakers in RE and what qualities make a peacemaker. The students researched their chosen peacemaker and in Literacy, worked hard at writing their biography.  Some of the peacemakers that were chosen are; Nelson Mandela, Princess Diana, Rosa Parks, Mother Teresa and Martin Luther King.

Thank you Class 12 for a great assembly with a very important message for us all!

Cross Country

On Thursday, Mr Abbas took a team of year 3,4,5 & 6 children to Regent's Park to compete in cross country against other Westminster primary schools.  Although the day started off very wet, they were fortunate that the sun came out and they were all able to enjoy their race around the park.  We have some very talented athletes at St. Edward's and we look forward to seeing how they do in future cross country events.  Well done!  Many thanks to the parents who were able to go along and offer support.
