Friday 20th October - Issue 44

Dear Parents, Carers and Children,

It has been another productive week at St. Edward's and I wish to thank all our families for their support during the first half term of the year.  I was very pleased to see so many families at the Parents' Evenings - working together we will enable our children to succeed.

As mentioned in last week's newsletter two vacancies for parent governor have arisen on our Governing Body - full details and forms of how to nominate and second candidates went home on Tuesday.  The deadline to return the forms is the 12:00pm the 2nd November.  Further information on what the role entails can be found on the Diocesan website.

ParentPay account activation reminder letters were sent home yesterday.  We are aiming to be a cashless school, so please activate your account at your earliest convenience to help make this possible.  All school dinner payments and trip payments will need to be made via ParentPay.  A big thank you to parents who are already using the website to make payments.

I hope that our Year 6 children and parents have decided on their choices for Secondary Transfer and have enjoyed their visits to the different schools.  A reminder that Secondary Transfer application forms need to be submitted by Tuesday 31st October.  If you need any further advice please contact the school office.

School closes today for October Half Term.  Children will return to school on Monday 30th October at 8:55am.  Please ensure children are dressed in full winter uniform on their return.

Have a lovely half term break!

Best wishes,

Miss Clare O’Connor

Dear Lord Jesus,  thank you blessing us in so many ways.  Help us to be always grateful to you and to show our gratitude by loving those around us.  Amen.

Well done to class 4 (98.1%) and class 14 (99%) on winning the attendance cups this week.

Class 10's Assembly

In class 10 we have been learning about literary devices and how to integrate rhyme into our poetry.  We worked together and wrote our assembly in rhyme focusing on the importance of being kind every day!  We spoke about the importance of our actions and how an act of kindness can make someone's day!

Well done class 10 - your assembly was a pleasure to watch!

Harold and the Life Bus visit St. Edward's!

Healthy Harold the Giraffe

Healthy Harold the Giraffe

This week St. Edward's enjoyed our annual visit  from Sarah in her Life Bus with her puppet friend Harold the Giraffe.  Children from all year groups participated in fun and interactive age appropriate sessions where they watched short films about healthy eating, learnt about the human body and discussed friendships and how choices and behaviour can affect education and health.  The project is part of Coram Life Education which provides health and wellbeing education.  Thank you Sarah and Harold!  We look forward to seeing you again next year!

Here is a message from Sarah:

It is always fantastic to visit St. Edward's but this year has been even better!  The children have been wonderful with their great ideas, care of each other and excellent emotional intelligence.  They have been an absolute delight to teach.  Have a great half term and thank you for all your help and support.  Best wishes, Sarah

St. Edward's Art Gallery

We appreciate and celebrate creativity at St. Edward's and so it is wonderful to see the beautiful art work on display in our very own Art Gallery.  Year groups have been very busy creating different themed pieces experimenting with light and texture in various mediums.  I am sure you will agree with me that they are very impressive indeed!

Congratulations to all the children who received certificates at this morning's achievement assembly.  Well done!

A special well done to our Mathletics gold certificate winners - Mateusz and Crystal.  Pictures to follow in the next edition.

Well done to Campion on winning the house cup again this week!
