Friday 8th September - Issue 38

Dear Parents, Carers and Children,

Welcome back to St. Edward’s and a special welcome to all of the new families that have joined us; we look forward to getting to know you and your children during your time at St. Edward’s.

We welcome Miss Wilson-Fyall (FS2), Miss Georgallou (Y4), Mr Twigden (Y3) and Miss Singleton (Music) who have joined our staff this year.  I am sure you will join me in wishing them all the best for their time at St. Edward's.

Pupil information forms have been sent out for all children today.  Please take the time to read through them and amend or add any information as necessary so that we can update our school records.  Once completed, please return to the school office along with the free school meal application.  In return, we will be offering a free school tie for every child whose forms are returned.  I appreciate your assistance with this. All forms must be returned to school by Monday 18th September.

Please note the dates and times of upcoming curriculum parent meetings.  I hope to see you there.

Mrs Moon and I value your continued support, and look forward to an exciting year ahead.

Best wishes,

Miss Clare O’Connor

As the weather is changeable at present, children may be dressed in summer uniform or in full winter uniform (this includes a tie and the school coat) depending on the weather.

School coats must be worn. No other coats are allowed.  School shoes need to black - no trainers.

Once we return from the October half term break all children must be in full winter uniform.

Please ensure that your child has the full PE kit in school (including the PE tracksuit) at all times.

Uniform is available to buy from Ace Clothing. They deliver free of charge to the school every Tuesday.

School Dinners and Packed Lunches

The cost of a school dinner has stayed the same at £1.90 per day.  If your child is in Years 3,4,5 & 6 or of Nursery age and are not entitled to Free School Meals please ensure that payment for meals taken are made to the school office.  If you are unsure as to whether you are eligible for FSM, then please enquire at the school office.

For children who bring packed lunches to school, it is important that they are provided with a healthy and balanced lunch.  Sandwiches, pasta, rice dishes along with fruit, vegetables and yogurts are examples of a recommended lunch.  Chocolates and fizzy drinks are not allowed. At St. Edward's we wish to promote healthy eating and ask for your support in this matter. The NHS Choices website has some tasty budget friendly ideas and advice for healthy and varied packed lunches.

Yellow Lines on Lisson Grove

This is a message from Westminster Council regarding the new double yellow lines on Lisson Grove:

The double yellow lines have been painted on the highway and the yellow blips on the pavement will be in place Wednesday 6/9/17.

The blips will prevent vehicles stopping, unloading or loading at any time which means your parents/carers will need to be informed that they cannot drop off/collect their children on Lisson Grove from the junctions of Ashmill Street to Hayes Place.

Please note, parents/carers that do park/idle in this area may be liable to a parking fine and possible Fixed Penalty Notice for engine idling.

Celebrating Birthdays in School

Please be reminded that birthday cakes are not permitted.  I appreciate that children and parents like to celebrate birthdays with classmates, but due to the number of children and adults in the school with food allergies, cakes can not to distributed by the school to classes. Parents are more than welcome to make up party bags with small items of stationery, toys etc to give out to classmates.  Thank you for your understanding.

Congratulations to all children who received achievement certificates at this morning's assembly!  Well done!
