Friday 22nd September - Issue 40

Dear Parents, Carers and Children,

The school year is in full swing and I am so pleased to see how enthusiastically all our children are working and learning.  It was good to see so many parents attend the curriculum meetings - I hope that the information provided by the class teachers will be useful to you in supporting your child's learning at home.

As next week's weather is expected to be mild, children may come to school dressed in summer uniform, but as of the week beginning the 3rd October I ask that children be dressed in full winter uniform.  This includes the school coat - other coats are not permitted.  School uniform may be purchased from Ace Clothing.

We are now accepting applications for Nursery and Reception September 2018.  If you have a child or know of a family member/friend whose child was born between 01/09/2013 - 31/08/2014 and 01/09/2014 and 31/08/2015, please ask at the school office for details on how to apply.  Also see below for dates of open events we are holding where you are welcome to visit the school and meet with staff.

Our school will be accepting online payments for school dinners, trips and clubs. Activation Letters were sent home earlier this week.  Please use the username and code provided in the letter to activate your child's account on ParentPay.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the school office.

Data Collection, Free School Meal/Pupil Premium and Photographic Consent Forms were sent home recently - thank you to those families that have returned theirs.  If you have not yet done so, please complete and hand into the school office as soon as possible.  If you have misplaced your forms, please ask at the office for a new pack.  A free tie will be given once your forms have been returned!

Secondary Transfer applications need to be submitted by 31st October.  Please visit the Westminster City Council website for more details.  I would like to meet with all year 6 parents individually to discuss their applications.  If you have not yet booked a time slot, please contact the school office to arrange a time to meet with me next week.

Next Friday 29th September we will be hosting a MacMillan Big Coffee Morning. Parents/Carers are very warmly invited to join us in the bottom hall from 8:30 - 9:30am for a hot drink and cake.  The morning event is for adults only, but we will be having a cake sale in the playground at 3:30pm for all children to enjoy.  I hope to see you there!  If you have any donations of cake or baked goods, please drop them off at the school office on Thursday 28th September.   I want to thank you in advance for your support and generosity in raising funds for a very worthy cause.

Have a lovely weekend!

Best wishes,

Miss Clare O’Connor

Congratulations to FS2 and Class 5 on achieving 100% attendance.  Class 14 achieved 99% attendance.  Well done!

Class 14's assembly

Class 14 showed us what a typical RE lesson was like, sharing what they had learnt in their topic on Family/Loving.

In the RE lesson children were given letters to create words.  They came up with ON CLOUD NINE O VITAL but soon discovered the real words which were UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.  They explored the meaning behind the Prodigal Son and discussed what conclusions they had come to following a class trial that they held.  Children shared the Beatitudes with the audience and created their own poems and prayers based on love.  It was a very informative and emotional assembly.  Well done Class 14!

Year 1 and 2 Art Club

Our Keystage 1 children have been having lots of fun getting creative at Art Club.  They have started the term by making clay models and wooden puzzles!

School Council

Our School Council representatives are selected by their peers to be their 'voice'.  The school council for 2017/18 has been confirmed as follows:

Our year 6 and 5 boys' football team went to Regent's Park on Thursday to take part in a football tournament.  This was their first competition of the year and we are very proud of how well they played and the sportsmanship they displayed.  If they continue to play at this standard and work together as a team, they will certainly succeed this season!

'I enjoyed going to Regent's Park and playing lots of football against other schools.  I am looking forward to playing in my next tournament!'  Jason Year 5
