Dear Children, Parents, Carers, Staff and Governors,
We had an overwhelmingly generous response to our Grenfell Tower appeal last Friday. As a school community, we have raised £902.52 for the Kensington and Chelsea Foundation and £309 for the Fire Fighters Charity. As we will be selling more water bottles at the Summer Fair, the total amount of money raised will increase. Thank you very much to each and everyone who donated or bought water bottles!
Next Saturday is our PTA Summer Fair (12:00 - 4:00pm) which promises to be a fun filled event and you are all welcome to come and enjoy the afternoon with us! There will be plenty of stalls, activities and games for the whole family, and good food so I do hope to see you there! If you are available to help out on the day, please remember to come along to our PTA meeting on Wednesday and sign up - all help is greatly appreciated.
Our Year 6 children will be performing their end of year play on Wednesday 12th July at 2:00pm and their parents are warmly invited to attend. They have been practising and preparing hard and are very eager to share their performance with their families so please put this date in your diaries!
Hope you have a lovely weekend!
Miss Clare O'Connor

NOTICES AND REMINDERS
Are you interested in helping us look after our school gardens and plants? Here is how you can help in a few easy steps:
- Inform the office when you would like to visit (please give at least 1 day's notice)
- Agree a time that you will come in (you can visit twice in a week, for up to an hour each time)
- On arrival at school, sign in at the office to receive a visitor's badge (to be worn at all times)
- The office staff will then allocate you a section of the garden/planting area.
We look forward to some enthusiastic gardening! Thank you!
First Holy Communion Mass
On Tuesday we welcomed Father Lorenzo who said Mass in celebration of the children who had made their First Holy Communion this year. The children had the opportunity to wear their special clothes again and Father Lorenzo talked to us about how important these were. When he celebrated Mass the children were able to take part in Communion with the school for the first time.
Class 5's assembly
On Thursday class 5 delighted us with a very entertaining assembly. They told us all about the author Anthony Brown and they reenacted the story of 'Willy the Wimp'. Thank you class 5 - well done for delivering a great assembly!
Our long standing governor Sheila D'Souza very kindly presented Miss Gaebler (our Science Co-ordinator) with a Germinator. We are looking forward to seeing the 'Germinator' in action by sprouting and growing seeds - we know the children will love using it in Science lessons! Thank you so much Mrs D'Souza!
A Musical Assembly!
Our Friday morning assembly was a musical one today! We were greeted by the piano teacher, Tanya, who played us in and out and then we were able to hear Halleluya and Natole, two of the pupils who are practising hard for their exams play a piece each. It was really great to hear about all the things that are happening at St. Edward's and the learning our children are doing outside of the classroom!
Year 2 have fun with Literacy!
This week, Year 2 have been celbrating Literacy. On Tuesday we held a day of fun Literacy activities and the children came to school dressed up as their favourite book character. On Thursday, we went to Paddington Central where the National Literacy Trust organised fun and exciting Literacy activities. It was a week enjoyed by all!
Our School Council go book shopping!
On Wednesday members of the School Council went on a very exciting trip to Waterstone's in Piccadilly, accompanied by Miss Woodruff and Mrs Jones. We went to choose books for our school library, making sure to pick lots of different genres, for children in all years. We can't wait to read our new books, when they arrive!
Inter School Mathematics Contest
Abiel, Louize, Shenai and Austin from year 6 were selected to take part in the Inter School Mathematics Contest that was organised by St. Christina's School. There were many other schools taking part. They did extremely well, answering every question correctly and working strategically to solve problems. Despite not winning, they were a credit to our school, showing wonderful team skills, attitude and excellent behaviour. Congratulations on a great achievement!
Well done Southwell on winning the house cup this week!
