Friday 23rd June - Issue 33

Dear Children, Parents, Carers,  Staff and Governors,

Thank you to everyone who donated to help those affected by the tragic event at Grenfell Tower.  It is heart warming to see a community come together to aid people in need, so thank you once again.  Donations for own clothes and the 'fidget spinner' afternoon are going to the Kensington and Chelsea Foundation and the money raised from water bottle sales is going to be given to the Fire Fighters Charity (Water bottles will still be available to buy before and after school next week).  I will let you know how much has been raised in next weeks newsletter.  I would like to commend our school council on coming up with such good ideas and co-ordinating the day's fundraising.

We had an excellent response to our Parent Survey!  Thank you to all parents who took time to complete it - your opinions and views do count!  We have had a very positive response and will be sharing the results on our website soon.

Despite the hot weather this week, many of our children participated in sporting events. Thank you to all parents who came along to support them and cheer them on!  It was great to see our children enjoying being active and I can certainly tell that we have some aspiring sportsmen and women in the making!

Please make a note of upcoming events as listed in the 'Dates for your Diary' section below.  I would especially like to invite the parents of all children who celebrated their First Holy Communion this year to a Mass being held at the school on Tuesday 27th at 10:30am.  It would be lovely to see you there!

Hope you have a lovely weekend!

Best wishes,

Miss Clare O'Connor

Class 10's assembly

Class 10 worked really hard this week preparing for their assembly.  It was about building bridges to maintain and restore current friendships with others.  It was a lovely reminder that we are the children of God who need to follow in Jesus' footsteps to forgive others when they have hurt us and to be able to say sorry ourselves when we have sinned against others and against God.

KS1 Sports Day

Our year 1 and year 2 children participated in their sports day on Monday and lots of fun was had.  It was good to see children competing with such sportsmanship and they certainly displayed some impressive athletic ability.  Thank you to all the parents who came along to enjoy the morning! More photos are available on our website in the news and events section.

EYFS Sports Day

Our younger children enjoyed their Sports Day today and I am so proud of how they have developed their skills through the year.  It was wonderful to see so many parents there.

Fidget Spinner Afternoon!

The St. Edward's School Council wishes to thank our whole school community for the generous donations made in aid of the Grenfell Tower tragedy.  One of the activities children took part in was a 'fidget spinner' afternoon.

African Mask and Dance Workshop

Year 1 had an exciting African Workshop this week.  They have been comparing life in Africa to life in London and learning about different animals and how some are endangered.  During their  workshop they made traditional masks from the Dan Tribe and learnt  a traditional festival dance.  They had a great time!

Year 3 Multisports Day

On Wednesday our year 3 children were lucky enough to go to The Regent's Park for a morning of Multisports organised by Westminster.  The children were able to have a taste of the skills needed in basketball, cricket and football and were excited to have the opportunity to be out of the hot classroom and on the cooler fields instead!  They had a great time as you can see!

Congratulations to children who received certificates at this morning's achievement assembly!

Well done McAuley on winning the house cup this week!
