Friday 14th July - Issue 36

Dear Children, Parents, Carers, Staff and Governors,

Thank you to each and everyone who helped make the Summer Fair such an enjoyable day!  Our PTA parents and staff worked incredibly hard to organise the event and it was great to see so many of our families come along to support our community!  Together we raised £3028.15 (not including money raised from hampers).

As we approach the end of the school year, it is time to bid a sad farewell to long serving teachers, Mr Girt and Miss Woodruff, as well as long term supply staff, Miss Canton and Mr Bunting, who will be leaving us to pursue new ventures.  I wish them all the best and every success for the future and thank them for their hard work and dedication to St. Edward's.

We also look forward to welcoming three new teachers to St. Edward's as we have Mr Twigden, Miss Georgallou and Miss Wilson-Fyall joining us in September.  I am certain they will enjoy their time at St. Edward's!

Yesterday was our school transition day so all children now know which class they will be in come September and they have been introduced to their future class teacher.  Please see our staffing list below.  A reminder that end of year reports will be sent home on Thursday 20th July.

It was wonderful to see so many of our year 6 children's families and governors at their production 'Friend or Foe'.  The performance was tremendously enjoyable and I wish to congratulate the children, Mrs Pini, Miss Davies and Miss Paul on their success.  Please see pictures of the show below.   There are various events next week (to which year 6 parents are invited) where we will be saying goodbye to our Year 6 children.  I am confident that they will be happy and do well in their new secondary schools, putting to good use the knowledge, skills and values they have learnt at St. Edward's!

A reminder that this has been the last week for school clubs - there won't be any after school club sessions running next week (except Fit For Sport).

Please note that school finishes at 1:30pm on Friday 21st July.  Children return to school on Monday 4th September.

Hope you have a lovely weekend!

Best wishes,

Miss Clare O'Connor

Class 8's Assembly

On Thursday morning Class 8 shared with the school their learning about their RE topic, "Special Places".  They talked about places that were special to them and about places that were special to Jesus.  They finished by describing how the world is a special place because God has given it to us and asked us to look after it.  They talked about things they do at school to keep it a special place and things they can do to look after the whole world.  Thank you Class 8!

Whole School Art Day

Today the whole school enjoyed a day of art - getting messy and being creative!  It is fantastic to see how many budding artists we have at St. Edward's and I look forward to seeing their art displayed around the school!  Thank you to Miss Caridade for organising the day.

Year 6 Production - Friend or Foe

Our Year 6 children put on a fantastic show which was enjoyed by the whole school and their families.  They performed Michael Morpurgo's classic story of secrecy and adventure set in World War Two,  'Friend or Foe'.  Congratulations Year 6 on entertaining us and creating more fond memories of St. Edward's to take away with you!
