Friday 19th May - Issue 30

HEADTEACHER'S MESSAGE

Dear parents, carers and children,

Well done to our year 2 children for completing their Statutory Assessment Tests this week. The children have all worked very hard to do their best!  As a reward they have enjoyed a day of fun and games!

Children with high attendance are more likely to succeed and be more confident at school and today our children with over 98% attendance were treated to a movie afternoon! Our top hall was transformed into a cinema complete with popcorn!

I ask that parents please do not video or photograph children in the playground.  This is a safeguarding issue and I am sure we can all appreciate the importance of the matter.  Thank you for your cooperation.

I wish to draw your attention to some changes in the class assembly schedule.  Please check the dates below as your child's assembly date may have changed.  I do apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.  Also note that Monday June the 5th is an INSET/training day and so the school will be closed for children.

A reminder, that with the weather finally starting to warm up, children should be dressed in full summer uniform please.  Girls may wear white socks/tights with summer dresses only.

St. Edward's will be hosting  Michael Vaughan's Wallop Cricket Zone during the this upcoming half term break.  This is a fantastic opportunity for children who enjoy cricket.  If you wish to enrol your child please register and pay online at Wallop Cricket.

Have a lovely weekend!

Best wishes,

Miss O'Connor

ATTENDANCE

Attendance

Well done to class 6 on achieving 99.2% attendance and class 10 on achieving 98.6% attendance this week!

NOTICES AND REMINDERS

Class 9 take a trip on the Floating Classroom

On Monday, class 9 went on the Floating classroom where we had the chance of having a lesson on a barge around Regents Canal.  On the boat we went on the deck so we could spot fauna and flora around the canal.  Then inside the barge Jamie, Lulu, Talia and Maysa put on some hilarious bird feet that made everybody laugh.  With those funny feet we could all observe the difference between the birds' feet and their different behaviour.  We moored by Meanwhile Garden where we went for a mini bugs hunt which was a bit scary at first, but after a while we really enjoyed finding these little creatures.  Finally we had a mini beast theatre!  In conclusion, we all had the best day ever and we all felt really proud of ourselves for learning the different characteristics of the unique animals that live on the calming and relaxing canal.

Year 6 have fun in Regent's Park!

Year 6 had a very well deserved day of fun last Friday when they went to Regent's Park for a picnic, following their SATs exams.  Games included cricket, football, skipping, racing and balancing and the children also had time to relax and play on the climbing frames and swings in the nearby play area.  The light showers didn't deter anyone from having a great time - it was a fantastic way to relax after a busy week!  A big thank you to the parents who accompanied us.

SPORT

St. Edward's wishes to extend our congratulations to Harrison and Tyler who have done us very proud by both having their football contracts extended by another year with Arsenal and Watford respectively.   Well done!

It's not too late to register your child for the half term Wallop Cricket Zone that will be taking place at St. Edward's!
