Friday 12th May - Issue 29

Dear parents, carers and children,

A big well done to our year 6 children for completing their SATS this week!  I am sure their hard work and preparation will be well rewarded.  Mrs Pini and Miss Davies have lots of fun activities and trips arranged for the year 6's to mark the end of their tests and to thank them for the excellent effort they have put in this year!

We have set dates for our various sports days next half term- please see below for details and make a note of them in your diaries.  It is always great to have parents supporting and cheering children on at these events and so I do look forward to seeing you there!

Michael Vaughan (ex England cricket captain) has launched Wallop Cricket Camps and St. Edward's will be hosting the activity camp during the upcoming half term.  Please visit here for more details and to sign your child up.

Lastly, congratulations to St. Edward's children who are making their First Holy Communion over the coming weeks - may they have a joyful and blessed celebration!

Have a lovely weekend!

Best wishes,

Miss O'Connor

Amaluna - Evolution Presentation Day

On Wednesday Mr Pilles, Ms Ndreu and 6 lucky year 5 students were given the wonderful opportunity to represent St. Edward's at the Amaluna - Evolution Presentation Day.  There were many schools in attendance including teachers, children and even the Rolls Royce engineers that visited our school.

The children were given chances to go around in organised groups to ask other children questions about their mechanisms.  Every group also had a chance to present their projects to the other children who would ask them questions.

We are pleased to announce that our children were excellent ambassadors for our school and answered questions about their projects well using proper technical vocabulary that we learned.

At the end of the day the children were given certificates, pins and VIP badges which wre all very deserved!  Our school was also the very first in the history of the project to make a unique 'trap door' mechanism.  The engineer who supplies the building kits took a video of the mechanism to include in an educational video.  The children made us proud!  Well done to all year 5 children who participated in the project!

Uniform Reminders

Girls wearing the school summer dress may wear white socks/tights only. Grey tights are not allowed to be worn with summer uniform.

Children may wear black, blue or white trainers for PE.  Trainers of other colours and stud shoes are not allowed.

KS1 Cake Sale

The PTA cake sale held last Friday raised £147.46!  Thank you for your support!  The next cake sale will be on Thursday 8th June 3:30-4:30pm.

Nut Free School

At St. Edward's we aim to practise a nut free policy so I kindly ask that children do not include nuts/nut products in packed lunches or as snacks.  This is to reduce the risk to those children or adults in the school who have nut allergies.  I thank you for your co-operation.

Physical Education Lessons

Physical Education is a mandatory part of the school curriculum and unless children have a medical condition exempting them from PE, it is essential that they participate in lessons.  If your child is unable to do PE, a written note must be provided explaining the reason.

3BM Football Tournament

Last week Friday we were invited to the annual 3BM Challenge Cup.  Our year 5 team did really well winning 2 games, drawing 1 and losing 1.  Unfortunately they did not qualify.  Our year 4 team had more success winning all their games and managing to win the tournament!  A big well done to all and special congratulations to Tyler who won player of the day with an amazing 49 goals scored through the whole competition!

There are still spaces available for the Monday Football Club.  Please phone or go online to reserve a place for your child.

Please visit Wallop Cricket to sign your child up for the half term cricket camp at St. Edward's.
