Friday 31st March - Issue 25

A MESSAGE FROM OUR CHAIR OF GOVERNORS

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am pleased to advise you that after a rigorous selection procedure, Mrs June Moon, who has been acting as our Deputy Headteacher since the Autumn term, has been appointed permanently to the post with effect from 1st April 2017.

She has served St. Edward's well as a Teacher and Senior Leader for 11 years and well deserves this promotion.  I am sure you will all join me and the governors in wishing her every success in her role.

Mena Rego

Chair of Governors

HEADTEACHER'S MESSAGE

Dear parents, carers and children,

As we continue our journey through Lent, we will be celebrating special Holy Week assemblies in the coming week in preparation for Easter.  This Sunday's gospel reminds us how compassionate Jesus is and how we can help others to believe in him by showing compassion to others.

Our 'World on a Plate' event last Friday was a great success and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who came along.  The PTA managed to raise £825 and would not have been able to do so without the generosity and support of our community.  A sincere thank you to all who helped - either by making or by enjoying the delicious food on offer!  Our PTA put a great deal of effort and time into raising funds which are used to enrich our children's learning and school life - we are very grateful to them!

Our year 6 parents are invited to a SATS meeting on Monday at 3:45 pm in the Top hall.  Mrs Pini and Miss Davies will be offering important information and advice on how to support your child prior to and during the assessment week, so please do attend.

As next week is the last week of term, after school clubs (Art, Football, Lemonjelly, Twinkletoes, TakeMake&Create) will not be running. Fit for Sport will continue to provide wrap around care as normal.  School closes for Easter holidays on Friday 7th April at 1:30 pm. Children restart school on Tuesday 25th April at 8:55 am.

Have a lovely weekend!

Best wishes,

Miss O'Connor

School Lunch Menu - Summer Term

Birthday Cakes

We appreciate that children wish to celebrate their birthdays with classmates, but cake of any sort e.g. cupcakes, donuts, etc., are not permitted in school.  We have to take this precautionary measure as we have a number of children with allergies. Parents are more than welcome to make up party bags with small treats such as toys and stationery, but please do not include cake. Any cakes or party bags containing cake will be returned to the parent at the end of the day.

I thank you for your co-operation in this matter.

The following summer dresses are recommended for girls:
