HEADTEACHER'S MESSAGE

Dear parents, carers and children,

I wish to thank every child and family who participated in our NSPCC Dance-a-thon Challange. We have raised an amazing £2462.88 (and still counting)!  All the money raised is going directly to the NSPCC and will aid the fantastic services they provide for children and young people. Rachael and Buddy will be visiting us next week to say a special thank you to everyone.  Once again, well done!

You may already be aware that our uniform supplier, Ace Clothing, have experienced severe fire damage to their premises.  I know that they have been in direct contact with parents regarding outstanding orders and unfortunately they are unable to process any orders at this time. They have assured me that they are trying to get services up and running as quickly as possible.  I will keep you updated as to when Ace Clothing will be able to accept orders again.

It's that time of year when winter colds and bugs are prevalent and so I wish to draw your attention to the NHS website which offers some practical advice on when to keep your child home from school due to illness.  Please take the time to click on the link and have a read. Elsewhere in this newsletter you will also find the school procedures for reporting a child's absence.

Tuesday 7th February is Safer Internet day, we have arranged Safer Internet Day assemblies and activities for our children to raise awareness on how to stay safe online. The internet plays such a big role in our daily lives. If used wisely, it can be invaluable to learning, communication and a fun source of entertainment. We will be talking to our children about how to keep safe and use the internet, and especially social media, responsibly.  Please visit the E Safety section of our school website for tips and guidelines that the whole family can discuss and use at home.

School ends next Friday 10th February at 3:30 for the half term break, which I am sure will be a well deserved rest from the excellent work and learning our children have been doing.  It is also a great opportunity for families to engage in activities to extend learning outside of the classroom, e.g. visiting museums and galleries. Please remember to encourage your child to read every day! Children will return to school on Monday 20th February.

Hope you have a lovely weekend!

Best wishes,

Miss O'Connor

Dear Lord Jesus, you are the source of all goodness.  Thank you for all the people who help us to grow in goodness and become the best that we can be.  Amen.

ATTENDANCE

Attendance

Well done to classes 3 and 9 for winning the attendance cups this week!

NOTICES AND REMINDERS

Class 3's Assembly

Class 3 enjoyed telling everyone what they have been learning about in RE.  We have been thinking about the special people that help us in our community and church family.  We presented prayers of thanks and enjoyed acting out stories of Jesus' life.  We are all thankful for our family and school community!

NSPCC Dance-a-thon

A very big thank you and well done to everyone who returned their NSPCC Dance-a-thon sponsorship forms!  Rachael from NSPCC visited our school on Monday to collect the forms and monies and so far we have raised a whopping £2462.88.  This is a fantastic amount and a brilliant effort! Many of you would have already received your badges and stickers, but don't worry if you have forgotten your sponsorship form as Rachael and Buddy will be back on Monday 6th February to collect any outstanding forms and to host a special 'Thank you' assembly.

Year 3 visit our local Mosque

On Thursday as part of our RE topic of Islam Year 3 children visited the Regents Park Mosque. We enjoyed being able to identify all the features we had studied on the outside and being able to learn more about the inside of the mosque and the Muslim faith.

Absences From School

If your child is absent it is important to follow the procedure below:

  • Parents must phone the school on 02077235911 to report their child's absence.
  • You must phone the school on each day that your child is absent.  Some pupils travel to school on their own so it is important that we know which pupils to expect each day.
  • If your child is absent for 3 days or more you must provide a doctor's note to substantiate the absence.  Failure to provide any sort of note may result in the absence being unauthorised.

HOLIDAYS MUST NOT BE TAKEN DURING TERM TIME AND WHERE POSSIBLE MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS NEED TO BE ARRANGED OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL HOURS.

Please look here for our term dates.
