Headteacher's message

Dear Parents, Carers and Children,

It has been a very busy second week back at St. Edward's. Year six had a great time at Sayers Croft and were able to enjoy all of their activities in the glorious weather. Thank you to Mrs Pini, Miss Davies, Miss Wilson, Miss Roach and Mr Abbas who gave up their time to support our children on the trip.

Thank you to all parents and carers who have attended our curriculum meetings. We look forward to meeting with year 1, 2, and 3 this week (Please see times below).

We have been very lucky to have had an extended summer, so children are permitted to wear their summer uniform until Friday 30th September. We are expecting some rain so please remember to dress appropriately. Please also remember that school coats are compulsory. We are giving you the opportunity to receive a waterproof reversible fleece for free (see below for more information).

Letters have gone home this week for the after school clubs this term, they will begin next week. Please ensure you are on time to pick your children up at the front gate.

I hope you have an enjoyable week ahead.

Best Wishes,

Miss Clare O'Connor

Late Collection of Children

I wish to stress the importance of collecting your child promptly from school.  Unless your child has been booked into an after school club, you must collect your child at 3:30pm sharp.  I understand that sometimes there are times when parents may be held up due to traffic etc., and on these occasions it is essential that you call the school office to say that you are running late.  It can be upsetting for children who are left to wait in the reception area if school staff are unable to tell them when they will be collected and it also creates extra work for our office staff who need to make contact with parents to see where they are.  A daily log is kept of every child who is collected late and persistant late collection of children will be reported.  Any parent who collects their child/ren later than 3:50pm will need to pay a £5 penalty fine per child.

Sayers Croft

Our Year 6 children had a great time at Sayers Croft Outdoor Learning Centre in Surrey.   Not only did our year 6 children have the chance to take part in varied outdoor activities, but they were provided with the opportunity to strengthen friendships and make treasured memories. The time they spent there has proven to be an enriching experience which I am sure they will remember for years to come!

Our trip to Sayers Croft was fantastic, everyone enjoyed all the activities and it was great to be with all of year 6.  My favourite activity at was the maze and blindfold trail. One person would be completing the trail blindfolded whilst the other person was their guide, telling them where to go and warning them of any obstacles in their path. It was great fun as we couldn't see anything! I would definitely recommend Sayers Croft. Abiel, Class 13.
