HEADTEACHER'S MESSAGE

Dear Parents, Carers and Children,

We have a very exciting week ahead, we are celebrating our 165th school anniversary. Our school opened on 13th October 1851. We are having a school Mass to celebrate this momentous occasion and every class will be celebrating with their own class party! We are very fortunate to be part of a school with such a rich history.

Parents evening will be taking place on Wednesday 19th October  and Thursday 20th October for most  classes, with the exception of Nursery which will be on Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th October and Class 12 which will take place on Wednesday 12th October and Thursday 13th October.

Our Cross Country team took part in an borough event this week, we are very proud of them all! (See below for more details and pictures).

The weather is getting colder now unfortunately so please ensure your child comes to school with a school coat.

I hope you have an enjoyable weekend with your children!

Best wishes,

Miss O'Connor

Headteacher

NOTICES AND REMINDERS

Class 13's Assembly

Breaking News, Class 13's assembly was amazing!  The assembly was based on our RE topic 'Love’.  We demonstrated how love can be shown in many different ways; the love of a friend, the love for two people, the love for your family, the love for God and the love for our school community. We performed the Parable of the Prodigal Son and sang the Beatles song 'All you need is love'. We hope everyone enjoyed it.  By Sharhabil

Well done class 13 on a great assembly with a beautiful message!

Parent Teachers Evenings

Letters have been sent home today with log ins and details of how to book an appointment with your child's teacher.  Please go online and follow the steps to book a time slot.

PTA Meeting

Our PTA will be meeting on Wednesday 12th October at 9:00am in the bottom hall.  This is a great opportunity for parents to support our school's fundraising efforts.  Our PTA are responsible for organising exciting events such as the Summer Fair, Christmas Fair and the Children's Summer Party and an extra pair of helping hands is always appreciated.  All parents are welcome to attend to offer their time, ideas and skills to enrich our children's school experience.

Winter Uniform

Winter has arrived and there is a definite chill in the air!  Children should all come to school dressed in full winter uniform.  Please remember ties!  It is lovely to see our children looking smart and wearing their uniform with pride.

Macmillan Big Coffee Morning

A big thank you to everyone who contributed to the Macmillan Big Coffee Morning to make it such a great success.  We raised £300.11 which is being donated to Macmillan Cancer Support.  We look forward to making this a regular annual event on the St. Edward's school calendar.

Art Club

Year 1 and 2 children have been having great fun at Art Club.  I wish to thank Miss Barton and Mrs Barton for their continuing hard work, creativity and enthusiasm.  Here are some pictures showing what the children have been getting up to.

SPORT

Westminster Inter School Cross Country Event

On Thursday a team of cross country runners from year 3 to 6 represented St. Edward's school at the annual Westminster Inter School Cross Country event.  We are extremely proud and happy of what our children achieved on the day.  Jamie and Tyler were awarded second place team effort for boys in year 3 & 4.  We would also like to congratulate Tyler who came first in the year 3 & 4 individual race beating another 150 competitors.  Our school's achievements did not stop there with Harrison  putting on a great performance by coming first in the individual year 5 & 6 boys race.  A big thank you to Mr Abbas and our parent volunteers for accompanying our cross country team.

Further congratulations to Harrison who has been selected to represent St. Edward's in the Westminster team competing at the London Youth Games.  We are certain he will make us proud!

Team Up

Last week I mentioned St. Edward's was visited by Team GB Olympic medalists for the Team Up initiative.  Team Up is aimed at encouraging girls to take up sport and St. Edward's was chosen for the launch photo shoot. Here is an official photo from the day.

ACHIEVEMENT CERTIFICATES

Congratulations to children who were awarded achievement certificates at today's achievement assembly!  Well done!
