Dear Parents, Carers and Children,
Welcome back to the final half term of this academic year. This week was indeed busy with all our children enjoying their sports days. I was very impressed with how enthusiastically our children participated and it was encouraging to see the level of ability and sportsmanship displayed. It was great to see so many of our parents supporting and cheering the children on! I hope you enjoy the pictures in the newsletter.
After listening to feedback from children and parents and working closely with Caterlink (our school meal caterers) over the last few months, I have made the decision to change caterers. As from September, our school meals will be provided by Principals. There will be an opportunity for parents to meet with representatives from Principals who are looking forward to working with our families and encouraging children to have school meals. I am confident that we will see a marked improvement in the quality and standard of meals provided and that our children will benefit positively from this change. The cost of a school meal will remain the same at £1.90 per day and menu details will be distributed as soon as they are available.
Our Summer Fair (Saturday 30th June 12:30-3:30 ) is fast approaching and we are looking for volunteers to help. Without the support of parents on the day we are unable to run a full and action packed summer fair. Next week there will be a short meeting from 9:00-9:20 (Class 12 Assembly will now begin at 9:20 to allow parents from class 12 to attend this meeting) on Thursday 14th June in order to further organise the summer fair. In order for the PTA to continue to plan this event we need to know how many volunteers we have. Therefore, if you are able to support your school on the day, please complete the form that was sent home today and hand it into the Reception office.
Thank you to everyone who sold raffle tickets and have returned the monies and stubs. There are great prizes to be won and the winner will be drawn at the Summer fair at 3:30pm. It is not too late to return your tickets - please do so at the school office by Monday.
Next Friday will be an own clothes day and in return children must please bring a donation for our Tombola Stall. Suggested donations are a bottle, unused toiletries, unwanted gifts, chocolates and biscuits. Thank you for your support and generosity.
Fr. Jeff will be celebrating a First Holy Communion Mass on Tuesday 12th June at 11:00am in our top hall. This is a very special Mass for all children who have made their First Holy Communion this year to recognise their hard work and commitment they have made. It will also be the first time they receive the Eucharist at a school Mass. Parents are welcome to share in this special event with us.
The free WAES 'Out and About' workshop starts Friday 15th June. This series of workshops will be focusing on making the most of outdoor learning and play spaces in London and will run for five sessions. The programme will offer plenty of ideas for budget friendly outdoor activities for the whole family to enjoy. There is still time to register - please leave your name with the school office.

NOTICES AND REMINDERS
All our children thoroughly enjoyed taking part in their sports days this week! It was fantastic to see them participate so enthusiastically in the different events. Thank you to all parents who came along to lend their support and to take part! I hope you enjoy the photos.
The Daily Mile
As a Healthy School we encourage our children to eat well and keep active! In a bid to exercise more, each year group will take it in turns to take part in The Daily Mile in our school playground from 8:30am each morning. The aim of The Daily Mile is to improve the physical, social, emotional and mental health and wellbeing of our children – regardless of age, ability or personal circumstances. The children will be joined by Mr Abbas who will encourage them to do their best to keep active. A big thank you to Mr Abbas for implementing The Daily Mile at St. Edward's!
Year 5 Floating Classroom Celebration Day
Class 12 went to the Electric Barge-Floating Classroom for our Celebration Day. While we were there, we got to have the chance to show our presentations and talk about it while showing off our posters. After that, everyone got to play some games. Some of the girls were playing with the play dough. Jack got us some snacks to have so that we won't get hungry. Some people got to go on the bow of the boat and the stern where there was a dance party! There was rag rugging, Head-Bands, Jenga, dressing up and Pic Pirate. In conclusion, we had a lot of fun!
Campion are our house cup winners this week! Well done!
