HEADTEACHER'S MESSAGE

Dear parents, carers and children,

I wish you all a very happy, healthy and successful New Year.  I hope that everyone had a very enjoyable Christmas holiday.  May I take this opportunity to thank our children and parents who gave myself and other members of staff cards and presents.  It was very kind and thoughtful of you all to do this and we appreciate your gifts and kind words.

This Sunday we celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord when the three wise men gave gifts to the infant Jesus.  At St. Edward's we will mark the occasion with a special Mass on Monday.

We have begun another busy term filled with interesting learning opportunities and I look forward to giving you information about all the exciting events for both the children and adults that will be coming up over the next half term.  Please take time to read the newsletter every week to keep up to date with all that is going on in St. Edward's.

Best wishes,

Miss O'Connor

OPEN DAY FOR SEPTEMBER 2017 NURSERY AND RECEPTION ADMISSIONS

MONDAY 9TH JANUARY 2017 10:00-11:00 AM.  Families applying for Nursery and Reception places are more than welcome to come and enjoy a school visit and meet our Headteacher.

SCHOOL DINNERS

A gentle reminder that the school office needs to be informed if your child is changing from a school dinner to a packed lunch or vice versa with 2 weeks notice.  We are not able to accommodate meal changes on a daily basis as this makes it difficult for the school kitchen to order and prepare the correct amount of food.  Thank you for your co-operation.

ATTENDANCE DISCO

A special disco will be held on the 27th January for those children who have achieved outstanding attendance and received a certificate at December's Achievement Assembly.  The children with 99%/100% attendance must come to school dressed in school uniform and bring a change of clothes for the disco.

YEAR 2 BAKE CUPCAKES!

Today year 2 had lots of fun following a set of instructions and making some delicious cup cakes.

MATHLETICS MATHS CHALLENGE

Last term, St. Edward's took part in the Mathletics Maths Challenge, along with 481 schools across the whole country.  We are delighted to announce that we came in the top fifth of all schools taking part, coming 93rd out of 482 schools.  Children averaged 1164 points each.  This is a commendable result, given that it was our first year that we have taken part.  We look forward to even better results next time.  Congratulations and well done to all of you for helping St. Edward's to achieve this result!

ART CLUB

Here are some pictures of the last art club session last term.  The children really enjoyed decorating snowmen, making their own angels and decorating Christmas fridge magnets!
