Dear parents, carers and children,
Thank you to everyone who has sponsored our children in their NSPCC Dance-a-thon Challenge. The whole school had a brilliant time! The NSPCC does valuable work with children who are in need of support and it is wonderful knowing that all the money raised is going to such a worthy organisation. Representatives from the NSPCC will be visiting St. Edward's again next week to work with the children in their classes. They will also come in later this term to host a special 'thank you' assembly.
The week of the 6th February is 'Safer Internet Week'. At school we will be holding special assemblies and class based activities looking at how to keep safe and protect ourselves on the internet. Please take the time at home to talk to your child about how the whole family can enjoy using the internet and social media wisely and safely. The NSPCC have advice on their website so please take a look for some practical and useful tips to implement at home.
Parents' evenings will be held on the 21st and 22nd February and details on how to book an appointment on line with your child's teacher will be given out closer to the time. These meetings are important to catch up and discuss your child's progress and I Iook forward to seeing all our parents there.
Hope you have a lovely weekend!

NOTICES AND REMINDERS
NSPCC Sponsorship Forms
A very big thank you to everyone who so generously sponsored our children in their NSPCC Dance-a-thon Challenge. All the money raised is going to the NSPCC who provide services and activities that directly benefit children and young people. Any outstanding forms and monies must please be returned to the school by Monday 30th January.
Traffic and Congestion
I am sure you have noticed how congested with traffic the roads around the school are every morning and afternoon and, with the safety of our children and families in mind, I ask that you please be considerate in how you park or where you stop to drop your children off. We are fortunate to have a dedicated school crossing patrol officer who does a brilliant job despite the busy traffic on Lisson Grove and it would be appreciated if we could all co-operate on this matter. I also ask that families please consider whether it is really necessary to drive to school or whether they are able to walk or use public transport. This will help ease the congestion around the school, making it safer for all and will also benefit the environment.
Half Term Break Activities
February Half Term at the Household Cavalry Museum
During the February half-term, the Household Cavalry Museum is organising several creative activities that could be of interest to primary school pupils. Children are invited to:
· Choose from various materials and make a crown fit for a King or Queen;
· Try their hands at creating their very own self-portraits complete with frame ready to
take pride of place in the family home;
· Design a royal magnet;
· Or take part in story time on Thursday & Friday afternoon and learn all about why the
4pm inspection still happens today.
The Museum also offers lots of genuine uniform of the Household Cavalry that children would be welcome to try on.
Craft workshops start at 11.30am & 2.30pm and last for 1 hour.
Story time begins at 3pm ready to watch the daily inspection at 4pm.
Booking is strongly advisable. Sessions are suitable for 5-11 year olds.
To book, please call the Museum on 0207 930 3070.
Fit For Sport
Firebrand Pizza have recently opened on Lisson Grove and are looking for ways in which to get involved in our local community. Visit their website to read about their Fired Up Project to see if you could nominate a worthy cause! There is also still time to enjoy their January specials, so don't miss out!
