Dear Parents, Carers and Children,
Welcome back to St. Edward’s! It has been lovely to see so many smiling faces in the playground this week. A warm welcome to all of the new families that have joined us; we look forward to getting to know you and your children during your time at St. Edward’s.
We welcome Miss Kremer (Reception), Miss Poulantza (Y3), Miss Robinson (Y2), Mr Bunting (Y5) and Mr Pilles (Y5) who have joined our staff this year. They bring with them a wealth of experience that they are eager to share.
Fit for Sport have joined our school community and will run our before and after school provision. Parents are able to register online through the link in the newsletter or on the front of the website. Albert from Fit for Sport is also with us during the lunch hour and has been organising exciting games and activities in the playground for our children. In addition, we will continue to run our regular after school clubs. Letters will be sent home next week and clubs will begin the week beginning the 19th of September. Places are limited, so please return your forms as soon as possible.
Mrs Moon and I value your continued support, and look forward to an exciting year ahead.
Miss Clare O’Connor

NOTICES AND REMINDERS
It is lovely to see our children wearing their school uniform with pride and looking very smart! I wish to remind you that a school coat with logo is now a compulsory item of school uniform. Please visit www.aceclothing.co.uk for purchase details. I am aware that there has been a backlog of orders and Ace Clothing has assured me that they are doing their best to clear this.
Absences from school
If your child is absent it is important to follow the procedure below:
- Parents must phone the school on 02077235911 to report their child's absence.
- You must phone the school on each day that your child is absent. Some pupils travel to school on their own so it is important that we know which pupils to expect each day.
- If your child is absent for 3 days or more you must provide a doctor's note to substantiate the absence. Failure to provide any sort of note may result in the absence being unauthorised.
HOLIDAYS MUST NOT BE TAKEN DURING TERM TIME AND WHERE POSSIBLE MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS NEED TO BE ARRANGED OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL HOURS. Please click here to see our term dates.
Our dedicated team of cooks ensure that fresh, healthy food is prepared daily from scratch in our school kitchen. Children have a wide variety of food to choose from to provide them with a balanced meal every lunchtime. Please look at the dinner menu below to see what dishes will be prepared on a weekly basis. The cost of a school meal has remained the same at £1.90 per day or £9.50 per week. Please pay by cash or cheque (weekly or termly) at the school office. If you wish to change your child from school meals to packed lunch or vice versa, please inform the school office in advance.
At St. Edward's we promote healthy eating and so I ask that parents please ensure packed lunches contain healthy food and snacks. Crisps, chocolates, fizzy drinks etc. are not allowed.
Monday 12th September will be the start of week 2 on the school dinner menu.
Physical Education is a very important part of our school curriculum and being active is essential for a child's well-being and has been linked to higher levels of concentration. All children are expected to participate in PE and therefore I ask that parents please ensure that their children have the full and correct kit including school tracksuit. I am advising parents to provide their children with a pair of trainers in which to do PE as plimsolls do not provide enough support for outdoor activities. Thank you for your co-operation!
